ARCHIVE - *** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION *** - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION

At least there is a 3080 update thread for stock updates, not heard anything concerning the 3090's.

As others have said constant communication even if there is no updates is the way to go, it keeps people feeling like valued customers instead of cash cows.

Constant communication with no updates is so pointless. The real problem is people's lack of patience for something that is a luxury item.

The amount of interest OCUK must be coining in is staggering, like.

Let's say conservatively 7,500 cards on back order at an average cost of say £700.

That's £5.25m in the bank just gathering interest. Working in retail purchasing most stock will be on credit terms and not proforma so there is no upfront cost for OCUK.

They post occasional updates in this thread and other stickes. You aren't getting your card in a days timescale, it's weeks or months. There's no amount of information, even if it was available that will change that. It's a GPU, a luxury item. If anxiety is getting the better of your patience, cancel your order.
I think you might have missed the point a little with this, There isn't any anxiety, if i don't get my card until 2021, that's fine. What im after, it's just some open and honest communication as to what's going on. for the last 2 weeks we've had virtually no communication. What we have had has mostly been in emails to individuals instead of updates in the official thread. The updates they have been posting are clearly missing things out.
This isn't about the wait or FOMO. it's about wanting a little more transparency.

in raw performance terms and build quality, no probably not because there are cheaper alternatives that same or similar perf. I'm not aware of MSI having binned quality silicon they might do based on what they receive...

in terms of being powerful and very quiet plus actually shipping, I think you have to weigh that up. The TUF OC was probably the best choice in hindsight as the perf is the same but is arguably a better build quality. Personally I don't think the Strix and EVGA 3080s make sense because they are like +£200 over MSRP you might as well wait for a 20GB model to my mind

either way you are arguing over £50 here or there, if that is important to you go for the standard TUF if you can get it @£660 you'll have to wait for it and unless AMD beat 3080 perf I doubt prices will come down much, not for a long time anyway

I hope there were not a deluge of people before 15:25 scampering over to the Asus TUF/OC because of matters that had nothing to do with caps in the end.

Sure, the cards are luxury items. That folks haved saved for, potentially for months, have then PAID for, and the company who took the money is not providing updates on that purchase...

Everyone will vent their frustration differently, some more constructive than others, but the fact we are talking about a luxury product (your words) doesn't make it less legitimate.

Finally someone gets the whole point of why the pre orders are continuing...the more orders and the longer the wait = big big interest. Thanks for cruching the numbers.

Thats not the point though, just because you are not bothered, many more people are, all we want is place in queue to make informed decisions.
Currently it is the blind not even bothering to lead the blind.

Totally agree, I'm not stressing out or anything, it is what it is, but the level of customer service is so low, there is no reason other than pure laziness for not giving any worth while updates and a position in the queue. Only reason I haven't cancelled is that its impossible to get one anywhere else, will not be using overclockers again after this disgrace.

I honestly don’t see why OCUK don’t have someone going through the orders, putting them in chronological order for each item and contacting the purchaser to let them know where they are in the queue.

I get it’s not a huge business with a huge amount of staff, but one person doing the number crunching could get this done in a couple of days, maybe less.

Because it's a complete waste of 2 days for that person. As others have said, it's meaningless unless you know how many and when GPUs will arrive for the next 2 months AND have the same numbers from other retailers to compare with.

I have to say that I was like ^^ when I saw you could still preorder on OCUK...

How can you make an informed decision without knowing the numbers of GPUs coming to this and other retailers and the schedule of those? Nobody has all that data and nobody is obliged to provide it.

Very easily, if beyond a few hundred, maybe even less, give it up as a bad joke, get money back and wait for stock somewhere else and use money for something else.
I am not too bothered and can wait with money tied up in their pockets, some people cannot.

Unless they get a few containers from a ship to themselves within the month they will still be taking backorders next year.

Constant communication is the backbone and standard practice of any good Customer Service, even if that information is no update today. Just ignoring communication is a way of burying your head in the sand and losing customers.

Well see. If the point in that screenshot of the email is true regarding EVGA cards. That's something I think might have been worth communicating. That they didn't choose to pass this along is telling.

Cancel your purchase if you aren't happy. They do provide updates when they have them. People are demanding something that isn't possible and doesn't exist. The problem is with them and their lack of patience.

Business accounts don't really get any interest rates to be worthwhile.

Apparently, you should be getting an email by the end of the week with queue position.
But with all the card swapping and order positions being retained and the small quantities incoming (if at all).. looks like a looooooon wait :D

But hey, nobody else has any either, so... it is what it is.

What it tells me is that their staff are probably swamped by people constantly phoning/mailing to ask what place in the queue they are or what is the latest update on the card they have preordered.

So just been on the phone to the guys over at OCUK, they said they are slowly going to send out emails for users queue base, but they are going from card to card doing it that way.

But said we should get it this week.

Sadly was informed there has been at least 1000 orders on the strix OC. So it might look like 2021 for some users on this card haha.
