Are you going bald?

Full head of hair here though I am only 21. Saying that I've got several balding friends my age, one is compensating by having a massive beard

I have a beard most of the time now any way, but when I decide to shave my head I will definitely grow it and look like a bad ass (that or like I have put my hair on upside down lol.)

That is completely untrue mate. So what you're saying is, if someone is losing their hair and they are worried about it, then they are shallow? How do you come to that conclusion?

My hair hasn't changed since my teens and have a full head of hair, i'm 29 next week. On the other hand, my brother who is 26 has started to thin a bit at the front and he is worried sick over it, taking finasteride pills to try and stop it and by your reasoning he is shallow for doing this? Or maybe he doesn't want to look like an old man before he is 30?

Sorry, maybe i didn't put it well.

Im not saying that they are shallow for being worried about it, I'm saying that it tends to be shallow guys who do worry about it (to the extent of the guy in the OP). I think all guys worry to some extent, especially when it first happens...but to say you hate your life over it etc, thats on a different level. Ive met a few guys like that and they were all the pretty boy types who were dumb as rocks...

I think he's silly taking those pills, but not shallow.

Im totally bald and I look far younger than my actual age...Being bald doesn't make you look like an old man. Trying to hide a receding hairline does though.

I am happy to say that through good genes i will never go bald! :D

I'm 36 and have a few strands of grey, people think i've been using 'just for men' but it's all natural!

My hair started to recede in my late teens. I've become quite accustomed to being bald, and generally shave my head on a weekly basis.
A bit of stubble doesn't go amiss, either. The missus certainly likes it. ;)

Excuse the expression. :o

I agree with your post. It's wrong to say you have a mental issue because you care about hair loss. People care about .. well .. a lot of things. There's height issues, hair issues, weight issues, skin issues, sexual issues, dental issues, cosmetic issues, I can go on and on. Casting all these considerations off as 'mental issues' is frankly stupid. Yes, we could all do with loving ourselves more, but as we're bombarded with images of the perfect human beings, we all try and be a little bit more perfect. For ourselves and for the opposite sex.

I used to worry quite a bit, think mine is definitely thinning, others don't think so, the worry of course made it worse, i don't think I'm attractive at all and thought this would make it worse. Also I have something called seborrhoeic dermatitis (sp?) which can look like really bad dandruff which I have to use a mega strong steroid to stop, and this being exposed also got my mind going.

I'm now of the mindset of what happens happens. I do worry about a lot (depression other people etc etc) but now I just shrug it off, I have managed to change how I think after getting close to doing something stupid. I'm also been at gym a while now which has helped my confidence in general. If it goes too far.. Shave it off. Better all off than a comb over!

All in all I think people who worry about this have deeper issues and it just brings them out.

Yes I bought some tablets for it once. They were ming!

I saw someone is supermarket the other day with a tacky pony tail but no hair on top. Looked stupid.

I'm not losing hair, and if my grandad is anything to go by i'll be fine until i'm at least 70!

I've never understood when somebody is going bald and has very little hair on top why they style it. I saw somebody last week with long hair on the sides but hardly any on top, and he had it spiked up, it looked ridiculous!

I'd just shave it off if I ever started losing my hair but I suppose it's difficult to say when i'm not in that position.

im in the same boat. im 37 with masses of hair, even though its short.

im more worried about additional hair now. my nose hair seems to coming on nicely and i get the odd bit of ear hair i pull out. and i have to keep on track of my eyebrows. its not a gallagher monobrow though, my eyebrow hair grows stupidly fast. if i even go bald i will back comb by eyebrows :)

Bloody hell, that's a proper shiner you got going on there :p

No one in my family on either side is bald so I've got no worries. However if I did it wouldnt bother me that much, just part of getting older, and it would give me the chance to wear a selection of hats more.

My hair started to develop a mind of its own a few years ago and what used to grow straight and true grew sideways and would never do what it ws told. So I went voluntarily bald (or close enough), and now I just wash and go.
I think having more hair was depressing :)

i wish i could shave mine. when i do i look like a shaved teddy bear :(

but theres caring and theres caring...you can care about something and it be totally normal, of course..but once you get to a certain level of care, it becomes something abnormal. Personally id say that being suicidal over hairless is not normal.

I agree. And that's all I have to say :p
