Are you working over Christmas?

I run IT support teams for a bank (trading platforms, not desktop support). We have to make sure there is enough management coverage throughout the period. My manager had dibs on holiday this year so I couldn't book it as there wouldn't be enough coverage. But they made him, and some others, redundant a couple of weeks ago so I might see if I can book a few days. Afterall they can't use the excuse of me not being off at the same time as him anymore, despite there being fewer management in the area now.

Oh crikey - stressful. :(

Keep an eye on the forum throughout Xmas to keep you sane!

:( Miserable, sad to read this sort of thing.

We were supposed to be finishing on the 23rd and going back the 17th of Jan but we’re now being told to come back on Jan the 3rd as they’re giving us the time off later in the year.

I'm in up to Christmas Eve until the start of January. Seems i'll be on my own after Friday though with a lot of people booking next week off.

This will be the first time in 13 years I haven't worked all over Christmas.
I'm off now but go in on Christmas Eve but will probably get sent home at 1pm and then I'm off until New Year.

Used to work up to Christmas and just have the inbetween off as the office was absolutely dead, so it was a guaranteed easy time watching films and reading books. Now I have a kid it's nothing but literally crying over spilt milk and being constantly tired.

Usual christmas shutdown for us. I've got a few extra days so i finish early next week until the 4th Jan. Most of my team are off all of next week, so will be a quiet few days in the office anyway.

My son caught covid last week so I have to isolate for 10 days then I have annual leave next week for 5 days, then I get 4 days off for Xmas. So basically I will have had 21 days off all paid for.:D only downside is I have to keep a 4 year old entertained.

On leave from the 24th inclusive until new year but unfortunately I could be contacted at any time (IT Support) and expected to investigate and resolve the issue.

Kind of ruins it a bit because you're always on edge that you'll get a call.

I work for myself (photographer - wildlife and landscapes) so if the weather is favourable I'll go out, other than Christmas Day afternoon when I'll be having my dinner with the outlaws.
