***ArmA 3 Thread***

Agreed - BIS make enough from selling the military versions of the Arma series - VBS2 ( Arma is based on these). This is why Arma is so realistic and miles ahead of other games - the people behind it know what they are doing.

I also LOVE their DLC system. Everyone gets it. and if you're willing to pay £7 or whatever. You get the full rez textures. The SP map/campaign too.

But you are not forced to get it and if you're unable to afford it you dont get alienated from your friends.

To be fair high res textures should be included at no added cost and there should just be a setting in the game to change them based on your system. Added content fair enough it is worth the cost but selling higher res textures shouldn't be allowed.

Well the only other option then is split the playerbase, and have dlc servers only keeping the non-dlc players out. The way they've done it is the best way and for that it's worth giving them a few quid.

That's not how ArmA works thank God! Like has been said before, the way they do things is awesome. Everyone can join whatever (vanilla) mission they want even if they don't have the DLC.

ArmA 3 Aplha

Speculation as to when ArmA 3 Alpha will be released is at a high on the BI forums!

Today a member spotted two Gameservers online, One running a map "rendering" and the other "Stratis".

"Render" might be some kind of graphics rendering test map or something, or at least that'd be my guess.

I personally can't wait for ArmA 3 to be released, and hopefully give a hand in the making of a life server for it on Altis!

Jerry is working on returning the player names and server operating system, but is having issues with their NAT. I'll update you guys if he doesn't.

Don't expect the alpha to be released just yet, it seems to me that not many of the privileged people have received the alpha yet. I highly suspect that when they do, they'll have signed non-disclosure agreements. :(

Follow Jerry on Twitter for the latest news and upcoming interviews.
