***ArmA 3 Thread***

I finally got to play the latest dev build today after work, on a good computer for once! The difference between running it on a first gen [email protected] + a GTX 460 compared to a stock Haswell 4770K and a lightly overclocked 7970 was like day and night... untill it started giving out graphical glitches. Has anyone else experienced this or is it my overclock?

Got an SSD ready to pick up after I return from a week holiday to Tenerife :) BRAG.

Think I am right in saying the game is fully released on the 12th? So hopefully loads of content will be available the weekend I get back.

SSD's help quite a lot in ARMA, especially loading times.

Please tell me you bought a decent one like a Samsung 840 pro?

Went to Tenerife last year had a brilliant time, enjoy it!

I found SSDs to not improve performance, but it did improve texture load at higher speeds (aircraft/fast vehicles) Particularly useful for me as a pilot. The load times are great too of course.

Yeah that was my point, never expect an SSD to give you more frames though.

This new patch has seemed to have causes a few issues when flying fast. Quite a bit of stuttering going on as it loads the textures :(

Same for me, although I don't think it is an issue or glitch, just engine / hardware limitations? Or Did it not do it in a previous patch?

I did have an amusing bug where I stalled at 1000m or so and then tried to recover it but the plane sort of locked into that position and floated to the ground at 40kph.

any tips to get Arma 3 beta running smoothly ?

I have a 570 and overclocked 3770k (4.5) - and whilst I'm getting good frame rates (on custom missions in editor atm I'm getting 40-55fps)

BUT it doesn't feel smooth - it feels like a lagged multiplayer game - ie it feels like occasionally you are getting missed/repeated frames - doesn't feel like low frame rate - feels like multiplayer lag - but I'm only in singe player

I hope they fix they stupid lag soon can't seem to play wasteland, CTI etc.... the game runs fine in single player and user created coop missions.

OK I take what I said about Altis back - just been trying some user missions via Steam Workshop - and it does look fantastic

just been playing a replica of Village Clear mission from Arma 2 and the graphics look superb

The performance killer is object draw distance, so i drop AA to low (turn this to off if i need extra frames in massive games) FXAA ultra, love the sharpness it brings. PIP low or off, this brings some nice performance benefits.

everything else maxed out.

I keep object distance around the 1500 mark. and use normal view distance like i did ni arma2 (2500ish ground, 4000 rotary air, 6000 rotary gunner etc)

When flying jets and stuff (not my thing really tbh) but id put view distance up hugh, and object drawdistance right down

Finally found an idea I like for my new mission. Going to have a play with the new support modules I think. Shame the CAS jet module doesn't work yet :(
