***ArmA 3 Thread***

I had bought ever ArmA release in the first week of release until Arrowhead. I enjoyed the games but I always felt they were a bit un-optimised. I started off in 'fps' with Operation Flashpoint so I suppose I have a love for the engine.

I got Arrow Head when there was a deal on and I must say it felt a lot better than ArmA I and II Vanilla. The added bits such as IR just made it feel a lot more fun.

I think they need to sort out the clunkyness of the menu's. Using [, ] and enter is all well and good when flying and putting your flaps up or something but doing anything else just feels awkward. They could do with adding a 'commo rose'/Nano suit menu where you press a key down then use your mouse to select what you want to do.

The servers need to be a bit more inviting to join also. It's all exactly the same as Flashpoint Resistance still. They need to redo the whole server finder so it feels like it is just a quick gateway into a game and not some tedious menu based of Gamespy code from a decade ago.

The final thing looks like it has been implemented. I don't know java myself but it looks like they may be using that instead of sqf/sqs which will give the community a much larger pool of people who can contribute to scripting stuff. There have been some very good scripts over the years that have never really been developed far as there are very few who come up with them and they never continue on with constant development.

Well anyway there is my 2p worth.

@Borsch
:oI’ll second that..

@Wynthorpe
Fingers crossed, really hope so..;)

@jonneymendoza
No I’m not in a clan.. I have watched a few ‘Havoc Company’ youtube vids, they play it the way it should be.. nice..:cool:

@jakspyder
Fallujah modded… heaven, put ‘Ryd_Hac’ mod in there and it’s just a case of wait and see, just a nudge here and there and play it loads of times, always different. Same with ‘Bagdad’, I have been running some quick simple missions, the ai are really on it.
Also playing on some of the ArmA islands, United Sarhani on A2 is fantastic, looks better than ever, frame rates are high and the beauty of the island is a picture, most of the ArmA islands I have, play really well.
I agree with what your saying..:)

@Stryda09
At least they are getting it optimized now, o.k. its took 3yrs but…:confused:

MY Twin watercooled 580`s are starting to cry at the thought of running this on full :)

(if its even possible yet)

I know this thread has not seen some action for a little while, however with the popularity of DayZ mod for Arma 2 gaining strength I wonder if this may see a slowing down for the release of Arma 3. Could we in-fact see DayZ as a new game released based on all the older Arma 2 tech or will they be tempted to take on DayZ and upgrade for use based on the Arma 3 new models etc, maybe a twin release.
If BIS play their cards right they could hit with two reasonably high sellers, in the form of Arma 3 & DayZ (the retail game). They may reach into a different part of the market with this zombie type game and run it along side A3. It would have massive game potential considering the community behind the Arma series. I see there are also some mods that were to be for A2 seeming to be set for A3 instead, have BIS been on a search for modders who can help with producing bits for A3 i.e. a mini submarine that was going to be a mod for A2 now seems to be going to A3. Interesting stuff going on for BIS at present..

Wondered what anyone thinks..

If DayZ was officially developed by BIS I dont think it would be a standalone game. Probably more likely to come in the form of a pack like we have with BAF/PMC. To sell it as a whole game would be a joke i certainly wouldnt pay to play both. And that means i wont be getting DayZ if released as a stand alone. As a small DLC pack though? Id probably be tempted to shell out £5-£8. No more than that though.

why? You probably played 50+hours of Dayz like many of us already and that is a bargainf or a full priced £30 game

I only got ARMA 2 the other week for DayZ. Over the past few days though I've been playing ARMA 2 online. Awesome game, prefer it to DayZ now in a way. Can't wait for number 3!

Hope this is better optimised than the second, it's so irritating having to put everything on low / med with a GTX 680 and an i5 750 @ 3.6Ghz.

GPU never exceeds 40% usage, it's just sat there doing nothing it seems.
