Man arrested for murder and attempted murder.
All without having to release an image or name for the public to get into a frenzy about. How odd.

SYP don't police Merseyside, last I checked. You're right, I can see from the news just how busy coppers have been in the last couple of days, fighting crime and avoiding the risk of accusations of political bias.

So if they arrested you and you were innocent would you want your face all over the internet?

It was only yesterday the police said they didn't know where in the country the Merseyside gunman was, or indeed whether he'd escaped abroad. Perhaps they were checking he hadn't used transvestism to elude capture?
A more unprofessional show from the police, by officers who look more like street cleaners, it would be hard to imagine. They need disciplining, and I don't mean by Mr. Izzard
There are numerous reasons that the police don't share everything they know.

Or maybe they didn't want to announce to the world that they had a very good idea where he was and plains clothed officers were driving past every few minutes in a bunch of rental cars, whilst a Merseyside Electrical Technicians van was parked up at the end of the road (closest I could get to a Flowers By Irene in the UK).It was only yesterday the police said they didn't know where in the country the Merseyside gunman was, or indeed whether he'd escaped abroad. Clearly they aren't doing much policing anywhere!
My comment was in relation to those earlier baying for the police to release details of the person they were seeking before he was arrested.
Why have the police arrested someone on suspicion of murder when nobody has been murdered? The killer wanted to murder the fleeing man, but the little girl (and mum) were unintended victims.
The guy deserves capital punishment IMO, but how on earth can the police prove he intended to kill the little girl?
The doctrine of transferred malice applies where the mens rea of one offence can be transferred to another. For example, suppose A shoots at B intending to kill B, but misses and hits and kills C. Transferred malice can operate so that the mens rea of A (intention to kill B) can be transferred to the killing of C. Consequently A is liable for the murder of C, despite the fact that he did not actually intend to kill C.
It comes under murder, I’m guessing you are leaning towards manslaughter ? He should have been arrested for attempted murder also. Not sure if if he was or not.Why have the police arrested someone on suspicion of murder when nobody has been murdered?
