Free tank for early access peeps :D

Obsidian Entertainment and My.com are proud to announce a special reward for all Early Access owners – a tier 3 main battle tank: Object 155.

This vehicle will be awarded to both Founder’s Pack owners and to players who gained the access by other means (such as being randomly selected or winning a forum competition) in the Open Beta phase of Armored Warfare testing.

I am completely addicted to this, I started playing WoT very late and was really struggling with the balancing issues specially in Tiers 4/5, but I really liked it other than that, saw this was now in Open BETA so decided to give it a go and I am loving it, the PvE is good to wind down a bit and get your mojo back after a few bad PvP matches. Yes, it's a bit buggy in places but it more than makes up for it in Gameplay, the pace is a lot faster than WoT and the 'Just one more Match' factor is x10 the WoT one ;)

If you liked WoT you'll love this!:D

I've been enjoying it loads, it feels fresh and fun like WoT did in the early days. I like the PvE element as rage calming break as well ;)

Still they have plenty of time to trash it by not listening to the community, allow bots to run riot, break any balancing and rather than fix it create a ton of cash-in premiums and pointless sub games instead ;) :p

I've played it a little bit but wasn't all that impressed to be honest. Gameplay is similar to WOT but it just feels off. Theres just not a lot of feedback from the tank itself when you move or shoot the gun, not really sure how to explain it. It also looks like cack, UI is terrible and the texture work on the tanks is just horrible.

might want to turn your settings up...

Have been playing it since the early start and enjoying it quite a bit, they need a few more maps though or need to fix the rotation as you do seem to get the same map 5 times in a row.

I was running it on ultra at 1440p. The textures are just flat and ugly, especially around the turrets. There was also a lot of texture pop in i noticed when switching between tanks which was odd. Maybe something wasn't right, might post some screenshots of what i mean when i get home.

i think obsidian have said the textures and models used currently are designed for the lowest system spec that will run the game they intend on upping the graphical qualities in later iterations (i.e. mud splatter on vehicles etc).

Has anyone start an OCUK battalion yet??? wouldn't mind joining if they have.

I genuinly love the mechanics of the Scorpian, you can support Scouts, screen your main force advance, hold choke points until your MBTs get online and generally be a pain in the ass to the enemy, so much fun for a tiny tank and hopefully an indicator of where the devs want to take the game, the battlefield will have a place for all roles and all need to do their job.

I have to say, I do like this game. My only issue is lack of people to play with (three of the guys I used to play WoT with have old PCs incapable of running AW, fortunately two of them are looking to fix this, as they are struggling with COH2 as well)...

However, I like this game better than WoT at the moment. Part of this is that many of my frustrations with WoT don't seem to be getting fixed (MM, Artillary, RNG is too high), whilst AW does at least fix some of this. Plus Wargaming have recently disappointed a lot of their players by pulling the Chieftain at the last minute, which of course pushed me to AW (Guess what? It has a Chieftain). I also feel that Wargaming do not really care about their playerbase anymore, whilst Obsidan Entertainment does.

My main aim is to get a Challenger 2E when they are available and when I get there. After that I am not so fussed about the other trees at this point, however I will see how it goes.

It's probably just me but the Swingfire is just completely awful after the fun of the LAV-150 and XM800T.

It is a complete waste of time in PvE Missions and is just way too situational in the PvP Battles, I'd love to try the Fox but just can't see me grinding through this Swingfire the way it is with the missiles, for the love of god give it the choice of a small gun, those missiles either need to do twice the damage or be allowed to lock-on to targets for a few seconds after they lose line of sight.

This:

Bots and balancing are by far the most annoying and rage worthy things in WoT, hopefully it won't creep into AW. So far ( only tier 3) I think it is ok...looks a little too "flat" but as someone has already said, maybe to run on low spec machines...lets hope for some eye candy in the near future.

I didn't even realise it had gone Open Beta. I'll download it tonight in that case and have a play :)

Well I stuck to my word and went to try this last night however I was not expecting to see a 19GB download! 4hrs later of 1.1Mb/s (thanks VirginMedia) and I was only 79% when I gave up. Oh well maybe this evening instead :D

Had another fun session last night and am starting to get my head around the tactics to take with Leopards, once I started keeping an arms length approach with other MBT classes, using it's accuracy, speed and maneuverability to get on flanks it's very rewarding. It feels like a WoT Panther now.

Well that's disappointing. For some reason the game's downloader won't allow me to install the game into C:\Program Files, it keeps telling me that that location is forbidden.

Seems it's a common occurrence going by the forum, mainly due to the downloader/installer being a massive lump of turd.
