^ Armored Warfare ^

Well I stuck to my word and went to try this last night however I was not expecting to see a 19GB download! 4hrs later of 1.1Mb/s (thanks VirginMedia) and I was only 79% when I gave up. Oh well maybe this evening instead :D

Don't worry, I an in Area code 20 (VM) and there is an "over utilization fault" aka we have over subscribed the services in your area and are cutting bandwidth at peak.

I am on a 50 meg service and lots of times I get throttled back to 5Meg....so I phone each month, complain and get the full refund:cool:...still annoying as hell...as is the even changing "fix" date, i.e. it changes and goes back each month I phone up. Comical really.

Spent about 2hours on this last night and enjoying what I've seen so far.

Am I right in thinking the game doesn't currently have in game voice chat? Me, Ade and Cded tried a platoon and I couldn't find anything obvious.
Also how do you get the red resource used to construct base building?

I really like the PvE mode its a nice change :)

Base resources seem to accumulate at 100 a day, each day you get a Collect button to click. The whole Base thing seems in its infancy at the moment but could be an interesting mechanic if used correctly.

Please enlighten us?

Feels muck, looks muck, sounds muck is pretty much it. the tanks handle like go karts with a gun plonked on top.

has the feel sound and look of a mobile/tablet game.

each to their own and all that, but for me it's just pants. I appreciate it's a beta, but unless they improve the handling (it would be nice if the tanks 'felt' like tanks) the sounds, the 'interactive' scenery - everything really then it's a definite no no from me.

I spent a couple of hours grinding up to the T-64 last night. It's good fun. PvE mode is where it is at.

Regarding in-game Voice chat you really should be using something like TeamSpeak anyway, as I've mentioned before... :P

You are welcome to your opinions but personally I don't feel it's that far off WoT in regarding to how things handle. It's different, remember that it runs on a different engine entirely, so things will not be exactly the same so maybe try and get used to the differences.

I went back to WoT and had 1 game in my Fury, which I did well in after and it does feel nicer to drive tanks around, but all of the annoyances such as Arty (and other balance issue as someone has mentioned) and the lack of a Chieftain (I'll say this again as maybe WG will eventually start listening to their player base) are enough that I then stopped again for the night.

Overall I see AW becoming one of my main go to games, at least until WG buck their ideas up (or not).

I want it to be different, in fact I expect it to be different. I've plenty of time played in WoT and Warthunder so know to expect difference in feel. Hell if there was no difference there'd be no point playing different games!

But this just feels all wrong. Anyone old enough to remember the game MicroMachines? Racing little toy cars round a kitchen work top etc? This feels like that. While that was a good fun game, it's not the feel I want from a tank.

The wheeled vehicles are a bit strange at first, the six-wheelers even more so but they are more like tractors than cars to drive anyway, the tracked vehicles are fine, very much like the War Thunder handling/feel, they 'feel' different to WoT tanks as they are all so much faster.

Not sure why people are saying the graphics aren't good, the game looks fantastic on Ultra with the HD Client, it does bog down the FPS for me in a few maps/areas but I'm getting a pretty constant 50-70FPS on an old 7970, it kills FPS if I am recording it on OBS though which is weird as other games really don't get affected that much from being recorded but this will drop easily to 30-40FPS while recording but it still BETA so hopefully it will get optimised.

Still absolutely loving it so far, the Scorpion has saved me from the world of hurt grinding the Swingfire would have been :D

I'm liking the physics, jumping a Leopard over a ridge feels like one of the promotional films of the 70s :D :D I also like the momentum carry over when stopping, it feels about right to me.

With wheeled vehicles, once you remember and get used to the fact you have to be moving to turn (no more turning on the spot :p) and they have a tendency to oversteer where as the tanks understeer things become easier.

Oh yes, doofer the Scorpion is truly fun :D, I hope we get the Scimitar some day as well for that RARDEN autocannon goodness ;)

So, does anyone know how I can install this into my C:\Program Files (x86)\Games directory? Even though I'm running with full administrator privileges on the PC (also tried using the run as administrator option on the installer) it will not allow me to do so.

I'm assuming you have other games installed in that directory?

I have it installed in D:\Games personally and it installed fine (and C:\Games on my laptop), not tried a Program Files\Games folder though myself.

Yeah, all my games are installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\ without a problem. It's just this one installer that's having a problem, and the customer support is pretty much non-existent.

I'm up to the Scorpion and T-62? I think currently. Both T3

Struggling to see how I can unlock the Brit T5, it has some weird requirement of deflecting X amount of damage but that seems mission impossible playing the Scorpion :)

Yep, already tried that (see post #93)

It's baffling is what it is. It's not like it's Windows that's having the problem either, it's the installer that throws the error up.

Yeah, must be a bug in the installer then. Not sure what you can do to fix it unfortunately.

Does it work if you set it up to install to another directory such as C:\Games ?

I must have missed that you tried running as admin in post #93, sorry. :)
