Ouch, my main box just rebooted, this is how hot a quad gets when watercooled when overclocked even without Rosetta running!

Had a fiddle with the wires to the pump and it started pumping again (thats the big temp drop in the middle) then kicked off boinc and back to normal again .. *phew*

No damage done. Makes me wonder how hot it got before it shutdown! :eek:

the B3 Q6600 I had would shut down at 92-95c = 4 cores at smp load with my passive loop

three cores would hit 72c but the last one really got that chip cooking

Well, I've given it one core ('cos me GPU needs the other one!), and its cut into my folding ppd by about 20%, grrr!

Any way I can stop it getting priority?

What's all this about only being for a week. We can't start telling them things like that - they might get ideas above their station. Besides, I suspect it'll take that long to close the lead on them, let alone pass.

I know you all want to go back to your foldy homes, but let's get the job done first.

Xeons seem to be the best cpu, OS doesn't seem to matter that much. Looks like the more cache you have the better

I was actually thinking it was CLOCK SPEED. You think it's cache? How do you come to your conclusions? Enquiring minds....
