Arr, This here be a boarding party

the credit given for rosetta is rubbish, its like half that of seti + optimised client.

my coreduo laptop had a SETI RAC of ~1100. first rosetta WU gave me 32 points for 9750 sec, or when working it out ~550 for both cores???

is there an optimsed application or setting i have wrong?

The credit is worked out versus a benchmark of how many models a reference machine completed on the same project. There's often quite a big variability in how long a model runs though as it depends how close it started to the lowest energy state for that 'fold' configuration.
The results get smoothed out as more models get returned, but some WU's will give you over average points and some under.

There's also no validation lag like you get with Seti becasue there is no quorum.

Fiine, you twisted my arm :D I'll move the quad over for a week or so once this pair of SMP WUs have dumped.

Thank God for that. That lag is half the reason I gave up on Seti - it makes the daily stats meaningless and I'm a stats whore :D

Was going to ask about that - thanks stu :D

We're forth in the UK currently and gaining around 1000 RAC ever few hours :D

still only 50% of the seadogs total - so get them PC's switched over
We'll also have our first team stomp in a few days, less if we pull all the stops out :D

Well it's 11:00 P.M. here in Wisconsin.
Avast! One of 'em a cheesehead from the dairy state. Shiver his timbers by shouting out "Lactose intolerant".
Just added my dual core powered barque to the fleet:)
Whip 'em off to Wapping & Execution Dock but not before givin' 'em a taste of the cat.:p

OK, it was about time that I gave FAH a rest, so I'll -oneunit the remaining FAH work then switch all of my flotilla over to Rosetta. All of the Folding Beta clients need updating this weekend anyway, so this will bring them all in line when I start up FAH again.

That will be:
5 Q6600's
1 6300
2 Dual Opteron 265's
1 Dual Opteron 242
1 Dual Opteron 2220
and an Athlon X2 3800

If this is not enough, I'll see what else I can switch on for a while.

Should start seeing some results starting tonight.

I might see about picking up some nVidia graphics cards in the near future, to take over the FAH tasks and stay on BOINC for a while longer.:D

Should give those scurvy dogs a run for their money.

Haha, it's really good to see everyone pitch in for the pride of the team. This was the main reason I started folding for OcUK in the first place as the DC forum was pretty good. If you lot weren't actively posting with the weekly news etc. I probably would have been folding for macrumours.com now.

It's amusing me, anyway. If they are going to overtake us in the long run we may as well leave a dusty OcUK footprint on the seat of their trousers. :D

Shiver me timbers, magman, that's quite an armada! I agree with theheyes - it's good to see that the spirit of the team which took first place in SETI Classic hasn't been dampened.

Right... SMP WUs have gone. 12.4Ghz clockin' on for a 168-hour shift, cap'n. :D

All crunching away! I had to go into the BOINC preferences and set 'suspend work while computer is in use' to 'no' to get it to use my fourth core, so check your CPU usage if you're not a BOINC regular.

Dammit, I'd just got my output on F@H back up to 10k after a poor few days :( Was looking forward to catching up.

In the interest of fairness I will change to this, for Mattus sake :p realistically we're going for #3 in our race, but I'm a week behind you :( Will start it going when my current WUs finish.

YARRRRRR!

avast, me buckos.. this looks like it might get interesting again... good for both teams, and good for the project...

and for those who have stopped by our forums - welcome to the dark side... :)

Well done on the guide btw, very easy to follow for us BOINC novices :)

I applaud your sportsmanship - I was wondering if you were gonna stay on F@H and catch right up with me :p To be honest, I'll be going away for a week at some point this month, so you'll get your chance then... that and my parents' energy-saving policy has stepped up a gear with this week's leccy announcements, so it could get interesting as I'm having to find creative new ways to leave things on :D Of course, my GPU is still Folding, so I should still get ~50% of my output. I'm awaiting the Foldy news tonight - we've been neck-and-neck over the last few days!
