Arr, This here be a boarding party

Hey there are some pretty serious folders on this team with the hardware to back it up. If someone does the maths and turns out it's possible to catch them quickly/briefly if we all pitch in then I'm sure we'll give it a good shot.

I'm off to bed now anyway. :p

If Bigstan was on dry land at present he would show these pirates what real crunching power is.
:p

But unlike these so called pirates he's actually living at sea for real!

theheyes: We have 153 people actively doing folding@home right now, we'd only need 1 CPU from 10%-15% of those people to easily catch the scurvy sea dogs. A few more people on board (no pun intended) and we can make an impact. We're the 103rd ranked team in Rosetta@home going into the top 100 is a good first milestone. Don't ditch the folding, just throw out an oar or raise a sail for Rosetta :)

Oh come ON its the most exciting thing to happen round here for months! :p

thats the spirit... :D

BTW - nice ramp up OcUK'ers...

this is truly all good for R@h, as they are fine tuning for their modelling in preparation for CASP ... just in time to score well another year...

all for the science...

Hear hear! It's about time we got some action around here. I can't remember the last time we achieved 100 posts in 48 hours in this forum. :)

this is what makes boarding parties sooo fun...

for the boarders, and the boardees... :D

PS - do we have any spies in their ranks yet? I note their forum is closed to guests.

so don't be a guest, come on over and register... everybody benefits from the friendships made...

the credit given for rosetta is rubbish, its like half that of seti + optimised client.

my coreduo laptop had a SETI RAC of ~1100. first rosetta WU gave me 32 points for 9750 sec, or when working it out ~550 for both cores???

is there an optimsed application or setting i have wrong?

Doh! didn't confirm that I wanted to join the team :(

Stats aplenty now - will borg the rest of the office at lunchtime :D
They were only getting 50ppd with F@H anyway so no major loss.

I'm tinking more radically - why not swap ALL cpu's over to this for one week - GPU and PS3 to continue folding.

After one week we'll be so far into the top 100 it will not matter or daily R@H credit drops back to 3k we've already proved our point :D

Frankly the gpu clients are well over 30% of our total score anyway so we're not going to slip a place or anything.

What do you all say? Short sharp shock, with the BIG spanky guns or a month of regatta?

I'll think about it ;) I suppose I could spare one week of folding time - providing my rivals agree to donate theirs too :D

OK. The pitiful threat posed by these upstarts needs quashing.

Have semaphored my boats the new bearings with instructions that they're to be acted on as soon as my current foldy WUs are done.

Avast, pirates! Gimme my booty back :p

// EDIT //

What says we get a message in a bottle to GD to warn any captains that don't frequent these here pages that spanky needs their input?

Pah! Bloody upstarts! Just because they've got a big boat...

Well, I think we can show them not to stick their oars in can't we? Consider me another recruit to The Good Ship Spanky :)

Arrrrh, we be teachin' them scurvy dogs a lesson or two!
