AS & A Results Thread.

There's not doubt that A-levels are getting easier. All you have to do is look at a maths/history/whatever paper from 1988 and look at one from 2005 - you'll see a huge difference.

As for O-levels... they were harder than A-levels are now.

Yeah but look at the massively wider range of things you need to learn now, also its not so much easier its just there are more resists so you can get better marks if your a lazy slacker like my self.

I.e got c first time did exam got c second time *exact same mark* 3rd time 100% :D

Yeah the difference is there is a bit more history to be learnt meaning the paper is harder!

I know i'm in already and i'm giggling like a small child knowing my results MUST be good. :o :)

Sister got a call from her school at 7.30am saying she didn't get the grades needed for UCL....... WTF they thinking about, let her get *** damn results from school. To top it off UCL rang her and said they haven't decided yet.

She got BBB and needed ABB with the A in french, and says that she doesn't want to go to her insurance (Nottingham)....... Id better go and slap her and tell her that if UCL don't accept her then refusing Nottingham is a stupid thing just because its not in 'LONDON'.

Well done everyone.

That's so weird, my gf is in the exact same position, going for ucl but got a b in french. I'm trying to get her to ring ucl and see how she stands.

A Biology
B Business Studies
B General Studies
C Physics
D Critical Thinking

It's a miracle I got a pass in Business, considering I hadn't revised whatsoever. :p

Crappy physics practical experiment got messed up and will have to re-sit to make my average B. :(

*Waits for the usual people to trash the thread saying A levels are easier then they were 20 years ago blah blah blah"

What does she want to do at UCL?

I went there and although I met friends who are now my best friends, I wouldn't say the university experience was as good as a proper campus university might have been. Nottingham is good anyways, no harm there, they are both part of the Russell Group (http://www.russellgroup.ac.uk/).

What do you mean? There are more subjects to take or there are more modules per subject?

Just a small joke, since 1988 there has been 19 years of 'history' to be added to the syllabus, so in theory, they would have to learn more. Just a wee joke :)

More stuff to learn per subject *the real one ie the sciences* as Im pretty sure you didn't have to learn about sub atomic partials (ones smaller than proton neutron an electrons any way)in 1988.

Means you only need 186/300 next year for an A :D

Graphic design - A (100% in every unit :D)
English Language - B
Photography (i.e. what I do as a profession now) - C :o

Gutted about photography, however it was due to the course being an "art" based one where actually knowing how to take a photograph and use a camera gained you no merit at all - as long as you could overlay some bull**** meaning to a crappy image...not that I'm bitter!
