ASROCK 6900 XT NOW ONLY £689.99 (£649.99 FOR LOYAL FORUM MEMBERS)

I thought two years was pretty standard for warranties and anything more was considered special. Though with the rising price of gpu and people holding on to them for longer, I can see why people would want a longer warranty

Consumer law. Which I know far more about than I really wanted to. But you know, sometimes when you get done over you have to fight.
That's very vague. Which specific legislation saying I have a two year warranty can I quote to a retailer?

It's just the law in the UK. Two years with the reseller. Anything else added by the company who makes it is a bonus. Trust me if the law was a year that is what you would get.

The Zotac cards that people turn their noses up at have 5. I think id rather have that than a few extra 'likes' for my overpriced strix in the owners thread lol.

AFAIK when we left the EU the laws stayed intact. Meaning two years on anything you buy, and in some cases it can extend if the purchase fails after that date.

Your warranty is with the company you bought the product from. You should never have to send it anywhere else, apart from there. In which case they have the right to take 90 days, IIRC, to get it sorted out with the company they bought it from. If they fail to conclude after those 90 days they have to offer you a solution.

Sorry mate if that is a bit vague but I am not going to spend all day digging into it all again and etc. I just don't have the time. However, what I will say is that I am 99% confident the law did not change. Because reasons I said above. IE - you can bet your bottom dollar that if it changed to say, a year, then that is what you would be seeing when you ordered.

There may be cases like EVGA or MSI where at times you can send it directly back to them, but you shouldn't have to. I have, though. Just because it was quicker and more convenient for me when I was down a PC that I relied on. Otherwise the reseller would have done the same, but then you add in the delays sending it to them, them sending it back, them getting it back and then sending it back to you ETC. I did do a direct with Gigabyte too, who used to have UK based RMA but I am not sure if that still goes because it was X58 times.

That's on Zotac after 2 years. And many of those extended warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. See also - XFX and PNY. They used to offer "Lifetime+++++++*******111!!!!!" warranties where the lifetime was actually the lifetime of that gen of card. So less than two years. So make sure in any case if it really matters to you that you read the fine print very carefully, including any pluses, stars or crucifixes.

To bite the bullet on this or wait for a chance on the new 7900xt/xtx cards. I can't make my mind up on this. I know there a lot cheaper than the 4090 cards but 1k+ is still a lot for 1 component.

Well the maths are simple tbh. How long will it be before you see a £650 7000 card? and when you do will it be faster than the former flagship?

I doubt it. That said even if it is who cares? you have your GPU now.

And yeah, spending £1200 on a GPU is daft. Note I said £1200. Because the prices they speak of are in dollars, and don't include sales tax (VAT) which is 20% here. And that £1200 is assuming there is absolutely no gouging/scalping going on. LOL more chance of that not happening than being handcuffed to a ghost IMO.

And the fact remains that unless you are using insane resolutions with RT you just don't need any more raster performance for games right now. They just haven't moved on to the point where you need it.

You should be asking yourself "Do I really need it now?"

If the answer is no, then keep what you have and when you do need an upgrade you will get an even better card and probably for less money. It is a tempting deal though I know.

Oh Lord am I tempted...

It's a great deal, bit worrying about the 2 year warranty though, and I want to see AMD's 80 class card(s) first though.
Many high priced items i used to buy only used to have a 1 year warranty years ago,
like for example my two £3000 pioneer plasma TV's only had a 1 year warranty
