ASROCK 6900 XT NOW ONLY £689.99 (£649.99 FOR LOYAL FORUM MEMBERS)

Just saying we seem to be spoiled now with stuff now having a 2 year warranty

With the price of these things I don't think two years is being spoiled. Fact is one year was bs, given everything is thrown together in China. Nothing lasts like it used to.

If they could get away with it oh hell yeah it would be as short as possible.

But these are not throw away items are they? Well, unless you wipe with £50 notes.

Brought the 6900, its a solid enough deal at the moment and even if the 7900 is worth it, its still 1k+ in one go and actually getting hold of one.

Now is always the best time to buy GPUs. IE last gen just before new gen. That's something I have always stuck to. Mostly because they are clearing the decks, and brand new releases always come at a huge premium. So the smart money buys now.

That said I did buy a 6800xt for £729 many months ago, but my case does not allow air cooling and it had an AIO on so for many reasons it was worth doing. That said what would I have gotten for waiting another 6 months? Oh, a £2200 4090.

Had I bought this card it would have cost me an extra £200 for a block, pump and rad etc. Probably even more than that.

6900XT is a beast tbh dude. It just didn't seem so at £1700.

AFAIK when we left the EU the laws stayed intact. Meaning two years on anything you buy, and in some cases it can extend if the purchase fails after that date.

Your warranty is with the company you bought the product from. You should never have to send it anywhere else, apart from there. In which case they have the right to take 90 days, IIRC, to get it sorted out with the company they bought it from. If they fail to conclude after those 90 days they have to offer you a solution.

Sorry mate if that is a bit vague but I am not going to spend all day digging into it all again and etc. I just don't have the time. However, what I will say is that I am 99% confident the law did not change. Because reasons I said above. IE - you can bet your bottom dollar that if it changed to say, a year, then that is what you would be seeing when you ordered.

There may be cases like EVGA or MSI where at times you can send it directly back to them, but you shouldn't have to. I have, though. Just because it was quicker and more convenient for me when I was down a PC that I relied on. Otherwise the reseller would have done the same, but then you add in the delays sending it to them, them sending it back, them getting it back and then sending it back to you ETC. I did do a direct with Gigabyte too, who used to have UK based RMA but I am not sure if that still goes because it was X58 times.

UK law was never specified as 2 years.

It is the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that is relevant here, it states "reasonable amount of time"

...
Apologies for not replying sooner but you didn't quote or tag me.

You seem to be referring to an EU directive which is not a regulation and does not apply directly at the national level. An EU directive sets out an objective to be achieved and it is then left to the individual countries to achieve this objective however they see fit. The directive was never adopted into UK law but some consumers have, however, been able to convince retailers into believing it applies in the UK. Your rights in the UK were contained in the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and now the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Aye, maybe a couple ;)

I benched my 6800XT last night in Speedway is it? it was 20% quicker than my 2080Ti. Which I was quite impressed with, given that it is supposed to be around the same for RT. That said IDGAF about RT.

I also bit the bullet.. but as part of a complete replacement of the whole PC hah

Going from an i7-6850K/1070 to i5-13600/6900XT

Should get a few more frames
I'm moving from PS4 to 6900xt + 7700x! Hoping to get a few more frames than that. Has done me well until recently.

I'm 4 components short of a full PC; RAM, PSU, case and SSD. Didn't expect to see any offers coming on the new 7700x so I'm waiting for Black Friday for the rest in the hope I can save a few £££. The 6900xt offer was too good of an offer to pass on.

Finally an Asus 3080Ti came up for sale in the MM and now I see this - is there much of a difference or is it very game specific?

Depends on the games you are playing, and the price. The 6900XT is still quicker in raster than the 3080ti, but in RT it will lose by a big chunk.

If they cost the same? the choice is much harder. If one is cheaper? that makes it easier. Again though, if there is a specific game you play a lot like me? then choose the card that will suit your game better. You also need to factor in the £100 of games this card comes with. Which are top tier titles actually worth having.

Personally more than anything else I play PUBG. I'm crap at it, but still get a lot of enjoyment out of it. And besides it is much more of a social thing for me, as my buddies all live 100 miles away so we game 4-5 nights a week. In PUBG the 6800XT was faster for me, and at the time I bought it £270 cheaper than the 3080.

Edit. Had a look. The TUF yeah? for £50 less than this?

Make sure it has warranty, as it is likely it was used for the M word. Also, if you don't intend on playing either of these games or just one? I would probably go for the Ti. Again though, it all comes down to what you are going to play on it. If like me you spend 99.9% of your time playing only one game and the AMD is faster? then I would go with that. Same on the flip side. If Nvidia suits your needs better go with them.
