Asrock Z68 Extreme 7

Hamster others are having this issue with USB devices too. Deathadder and Xai also cause the issues, can only presume it needs a bios update but i dont think ones out for it yet :s

Thanks for replying. I hope it's not too long before an update to fix the issue. I suppose this is the kind of issue you can face when you're an early adopter of a new board.

Just had a look and apart from the 1.10 BIOS which adds Support XMP ver. 1.3 memory, there is 1.11 which lists:

1. Decrease the NF200 training process to improve boot time.
2. Change the string "RAID" to "SATA" for CD-ROM in F11 popup memu when "RAID Mode" is enabled.

Don't really want to experiment with a beta BIOS but it doesn't state that it fixes the USB issue anyhow.

I'm having issues with my phone plugged in via usb where i get a 'B4' error and the pc hangs before loading windows. When i disconnect the phone, the pc continues into windows. I'm, pretty sure I got a similar problem with an external drive plugged into the e-sata port.

Disable usb legacy in bios and it will boot ok.. Had that prob with the extreme4 still no fix..

Just tried that and now I regret not having installed the PS2 bracket!! With legacy usb disabled, the keyboard wasn't active until windows started so had to clear the BIOS and start again, damn you ;) :p Oh thanks btw :)

good to hear you got it sorted! Thanks for that Crezzlin well worth nothing for future reference :)

Mine arrives tomorrow along with a whole host of other new toys, extremely excited.

Hoping to push the 2600K to around the 4.8 Ghz mark, anybody have some advice as to the settings they're using?

Cheers

Sounds good, ive not overclocked yet until i get my watercooling kit. but you wont be disappointed with the board :D only thing i had to do was go in to memory settings and change the memory from auto to xmp profile 1 for the ram to work at 1866, everything seems to be working fine :)

its easy just auto clock it in bios to 4.8, don't need to do anything else apart from what Mr V said about ram profile, if you overclock with a standard cooler the cpu temp will be about the same in windows unless you stress test all cores as the cpu idle is about the same as when at default clock speeds to overclocked :)

Got mine up and running at long last after some back and forth drama.

Seems stable at 4.8 but going to leave Prime running overnight to be 100% sure.

Had the issue with the mouse causing the PC not to boot so had to disable Legacy USB support, this now means that I can't get into UEFI to flash the damn Crucial M4 to the new firmware, so looks like there is a CMOS reset coming soon.

Also, will not boot if my Drobo is connected (via eSATA) which is going to be a massive issue for me if that doesnt get fixed soon. At the moment I simply disconnect it when the PC is booting and plug it in once I see the Windows log in screen, short term solution until something better comes along.

which version of prime are you using?

surprised by the esata issue, i was looking at a 5tb raid5 esata DAS will hold off for the time being. thanks mate

hmm the esta issue doesn't sound good as I have a hdd caddy with 2x 1tb samsung f3.

on my current system on vista I was able to plug it in while windows was running and it would 'pick it up' and I could eject when done but after installing win7 have to have it connected at bootup and can't eject it(not sure if its something in win7 thats different from vista or I have to change a setting somewhere).

I have £40 now for ram from selling the 2 deus ex codes I got for buying the 6950s :)

have you enabled AHCI for sata ports in the bios? worth checking

@ £40 nice one!:D

Prime 95 x64

Just come through 90 minutes of stress testing, temps sitting in the low 70's which is 3 or 4 degrees above ideal I guess, however its far from the end of the world.

the eSata issue is a strange one, I mean I have the option of connecting the Drobo by USB 2.0 (with Legacy Mode disabled) and everything will boot fine, just I kinda like the eSata transfer rates.

Confused as to what to do, going to live with it for now until we see what happens with an updated firmware of something.

Rids, just a though for something that may be worth trying. You can get cheap esata brackets for the rear of the case that plug into any sata port. With there being 3 types of controller on the board, it may well be worth plugging one of those into a sata port on a different controller and seeing if that resolves the boot issue. I've misplaced my bracket so can't give that a try at the moment. You could also perhaps buy a sata to e-sata cable to try first.

The mouse issues in the BIOS are really, really irritating. Having to keyboard navigate partially renders having a UEFI bios irrelevant. The layout on the board is excellent though, i love the 2x slot spacing they've adopted for multi-GPU setups. It allows you to utilise the PCI-E 1x slots inbetween them.
