Hi guys, i'm posting this to highlight that either it is me or this board does not support Creative X-fi xtremegamer card. Try as I might, i just couldnt get this card to work at all. I have tried many ways;
1. disable onboard HD audio
2. disable/delete/uninstall HD audio in Windows 7 device manager.
3. uninstall/install the latest creative driver. I even tried the newest beta driver dated aug 2011.
4. plug out and in the driver card a few times.

All efforts proved futile.

Can someone advise what is should do now. Email creative or ASRock ?
My previous board was a x58 and i had no problem switching between onboard/card audio.

Not sure

Was thinking of one of these boards for a new build, but it seems some people are having problems with the bios and other issues.Trouble is I think the actual board itself has a lot of good up to date features, but I don't obviously want to buy an unreliable board so.......

Can anyone re assure me that this board is generally ok and reliable as I am so tempted.

Mark

I've not had any issues with mine at all, runs brilliantly :D

I'm having trouble getting an m-audio 2496 PCI soundcard to play ball with this board. It's working on my P67 system but on this board I get no sound whatsoever, even though the card appears to be working properly in device manager. If anyone has this card or even any other PCI soundcard and can let me know whether theirs works OK I would be grateful.

Thanks for letting me know. Apparently there's an issue with the PCI Bus of some sandybridge boards and that's all the information I've been able to gather. It's annoying though as one would have expected the board to be tested properly and fixed before release. I just hope there will be a BIOS update fixing it sometime soon but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Looks like the problem with x-fi is down to the creative drivers, not the board. I've seen it in another post. See if I can find a link.

Found it on another Forum (after looking through my history at every page I've read on here lol)

Ket, I see you summed up some issues with the gen3 boards for Asrock support: I have a Creative X-Fi Platinum PCI card in the bottom PCI slot on my board but I'm not running the official creative drivers for win7x64. Instead I used "PAX PCI XFI ALL OS Driver V4.60" and it seems to be running well without any installation issues. Perhaps you are right and it could be a driver issue causing conflicts?

I just noticed that in the tweaktown thread and my soundcard appears to be working correctly now :) Good on Asrock for sorting that out so quickly!!
Looks like koroshiya9 has his card working too :)

Also it seems the inverted mouse problem has been addressed with this BIOS. I think they need to sort out the booting issue next with e-sata or certain USB devices connected.

Great news mate! glad your cards working now :D

I think Asrock is still a relatively small company compared to the big giants(Asus, Gigabyte, MSI) and so naturally the support will be a little slower. Im sure theyll get there TT appears to be a good place to address issues.

hi all !! the latest bios 1.21 worked it's magic..both PCI and inverted mouse problem solved!!
thumbs up for ASrock.

2 thumbs up to ASrock :D

A few people are slaggin the board off I think the issues will be fixed as they are bought to the attention of Asrock.

If anyone has issues I'd advise you to head over to TT and email the official ASrock staff for a resolution.

My board worked straight out of the box only thing I changed was the memory profile to XMP and of it went ram running @ 1866 :D

Has anyone started overclocking these boards? I'm will be going WC soon and curious what results people are getting.

@Crezzlin did you manage to sort out the problem you where having with eyeinfinity?

Ive had to change back to my old board, couldnt get crossfire and eyefinity to work just got mad screen tearing, soon as i put the old board back in even with the extreme7 windows on the hdd it works :s gutted as i love the board.. it did work perfect apart from the eyefinity problem :( was running at 4.8Ghz all auto no problem and low temps :)

Sorry to hear of your woes, but overall you obviously like the board.I am currently considering a purchase as the overall impression of this board seems very favourable. Let us hope a bios update at some point cures the crossfire/eyefinity issues????

must be gutted mate, hope they get it sorted soon. you could post on the TT forum and see if you can get an official response or get them to look in to the problem

4.8 sounds great :D is that on air?

Is anyone still having problems with drives conneted via e-sata? BIOS 1.21 seems to have cured the booting problem when e-sata is in use but I still get the problem with my HTC phone connected to a USB3.0 port when the PC hangs with a B4 error during POST. Anyone else experiencing that issue too?

well good to hear about the e-sata, what htc phone do you have? I have the original desire(not the hd, the one with the slide out keypad or the s).

crezzlin is it just the eyfinity you're have the problem with? does it work ok with xfire on 1 monitor?

hopefully I'll finally get around to swapping out the q6600 etc for the i2500k etc in a couple of weeks.
