Asrock Z68 Extreme 7

hey guys,

Got my extreme 7 in now and I can confirm it works fine with the revodrive :D however I must be doing something really wrong as I can't get the LAN driver to work.

I don't have an optical drive on my PC so have downloaded the LAN drivers (broadcomm?) from asrocks site off my netbook :p

However I can't seem to get any to work?! Has anyone got a different driver I could use.

OS is windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Thats fantastic, im lookin at buying one thank you for confirming it works :D

any benchies on how its performing?

Yeah first thing I did. Both ports enabled, latest BIOS too.

I have installed all the broadcomm software yet still no ethernet ports detected|

thats very strange, mines are showing up fine under windows 7 pro.

if you have an email address i can rip the drivers of the CD i have and email them you if you want to try that? or transfer over msn? ive had a look at the CD and theres 2 versions of broadcom drivers and REALTEK drivers for the LAN?

In that case I'm not sure what the problem is. Are there any unknown devices in Device Manager?

Nothing there at all :confused::(

Haven't managed to do any benchies yet, will do once I solve the LAN issue! :p

I'm at work now so have got the LAN drivers off the CD. I am slightly confused about why there 2 Broadcomm drivers and one realtek yet there is no realtek download on the asrock site?!

Thanks for the email offer though :)

Pretty sure that I am settled on this board for my new system. I had ummed and ahhed about a couple but this seems to have the best slot layout for me to ultimately run Crossfire or SLi as well as having my Xonar D2X pcie soundcard in.

If the card doesn't fit in the top mini pcie slot, will it fit in the bottom full size pcie slot? Does the board turn off certain slots if Crossfire/SLi is enabled?

My SSDs and memory arrived today and once I am settled on the board etc, what is the procedure for setting up before installing Windows? I am sure I read somewhere that you have to do something with the SSDs before you put the os on.

Hi, all the PCIE slots work at once, i had my sound card in the bottom slot with crossfire, as for the ssd's they shoud just work! What model are they??

Just go into the BIOS and change the drive settings from IDE to AHCI. I also enabled hotplug on all drives too. Everything else will take care of itself when you install windows.

Ahh that was it!

They are Crucial M4s. 64GB one for the o/s and a 128GB for games.

Hi Crezzlin, that is exactly what I wanted to hear! Thanks very much. Order will be going in today :)

I've searched the threads but I'm still not completely clear...
What is the difference between this board and the Fatal1ty.
Which is the better overclocker?
Will they both support Ivy Bridge?

Thanks

EDIT: Seems to come down to NF200 / SLI / 3-way capability and PCI slot count but that is all

Yeah Im beginiing to think so too. I worked in the technical system builds department for 3 years so I know my way around a system! Just seems like a really stupid issue.

looked like ports are DOA unfortunately and i dont think theres anytihng else left to try. RMA time? :(

Just quickly installed mine today. Had to pull out my water loop for the time being so running the stock cooler until my new rad and res arrive.

Teamed it up with a 2600K, 16GB RipjawsX 7-8-7-24 1600mhz, and 2x GTX 580's.

Ran into a problem from the off. The very first time you boot it asks if you want to continue or run setup and my keyboard wasn't working. This is a Logitech G510. I tried it in both the usb2 and usb3 ports. It means it's impossible to get into the bios or select any windows boot options during start up. I tried a wireless keyboard and that didn't work either but then luckily my apple keyboard worked!?

Flashed the bios to the latest version but still no joy with the G510 during boot up. I also noticed when powering off the scroll wheel led on my deathadder still stays lit. :(

Oh well, some playing to do I guess....... anyway have some pics. Ignore the messy wires I was in a hurry to get this in and will sort it when I redo the water loop :D
