Asrock Z68 Extreme 7

Please don't take it personally :) Just that yours is less vague and contains a lot of description making it a bit 'too easy' to recognise the retailer i.e. giving their product code, stock levels etc... It was just a suggestion based on what normally gets frowned upon by the mods here.

How's that bud, done a little edit :D

:) Didn't want you to get put in the naughty corner!

How are you getting on with your board. Everything completely stable?

Cheers for the heads up, yeah board is fantastic. Had a little problem with the Agility 3 at first going a-wall, but I've sussed that now. Save bios run Wei then restart...no more problems ;-))
Had it running at nearly 5GHz for a while but needed to have my fans on medium, so dropped it to 4.4GHz stock volts all fans on low, the Noctua fans barely even kick in even when gaming, well chuffed ;-))

Nice overclock! Personally I'd be more than happy with 4.4 stable. It's Interesting that you mention the Agility 3 as I have a Vertex3 waiting to be put in my system. I take it that you didn't have any of the BSOD issues so I'd love to know which firmware that you're using on the drive and also which sata controller you're running the drive on.

It came with 2.11 already so not flashed it. Had a Vertex 2E before on 1.34, no probs with that at all.Ran the Vertex on Sata 0, and the Agility at first but swapped it to Sata 1. Not sure if it's significant but I've had no problems since doing this and the save bios method.
I did have one BSOD when I tried to go over 5GHz, then SSD disappeared a couple of times. But I sussed out it was everytime I loaded the saved profile from the UEFI. So now if I change any settings I save bios, boot in windows, run WEI, then reboot. NO more problems. Also I've just been reading that if you're stuggling to run over 4.8GHz with a discreet Gpu installed, try removing it and you may be able to hit Over 5 GHz ;-))
Off to bed now, stay safe bud ;-))

Thanks for that. My Vertex 3 came with 2.02 (bought it a long time ago.) I've already updated it to 2.06 so I'll start off with that and see if it causes any problems. Last question about the drive: Which Intel RST drivers have you been successful with?

Whats the temps on the Noctua at 4.8GHZ ? i will be using the same cooler when i get my board.

Highest temps I've seen have been 71C on one core, but that was running LinX @ 4948MHz 1.384v. Prime was slightly lower around 69C.
@ 4.8GHz 1.376v. LinX peaked at 66C
@ 4.5GHz 1.224v. LinX peaked at 57C

So I'd say the cooler is doing a pretty good job, especially as I never put my case fans above medium :D

The only RST drivers I've used are 10.6.0.1002

Did you use the paste that came with the noctua as i find the chill factor 3 better than supplied paste.

This motherboard is already available from 8 UK retailers ( in stock ) but OCUK is not on that list. :(
Maybe pre-order option with a promotional price will be a good idea to keep loyal customers ??
