Gmg was ruddy slow earlier today, I think I must have got on the download quickly as it started at 8MB's or so, which is a little under what I can get max, then it dropped to 200kb's for an hour, then back up to 4mb's or so. Not too bad in the end.
So far... have to say not liking it at all but I really don't know where its going. Maybe I'm remembering the previous games wrong but these feel much closer to levels than open world with missions in so far. Instant transporting to locations, (i've yet to explore... if you can, so don't know if these are places you can't normally visit or will be able to later), really painfully linear missions and within 3-4 missions running into a painfully irritating, had to repeat loads of times mission as it really wasn't explained properly at all, just kind of started.
So far the first 2, 3, 7 games, however many there are, were all varying levels of really very good, great story, good starts and instantly gave you that rich, atmospheric, open world feel. THe story starts off, well, crap(in the animus, not the real world part which carries on), there seems to be zero introduction to the character, the people around him, the location and the location feels empty, dull, lifeless and you aren't encouraged to explore at all as its transport from one location to another straight away.
I really hope it quickly gets back to its more open world feel, because so far its bland and pretty dull with bad missions.
Not helped by being buggy as hell, when you start off on the journey, I had textures flickering, fell through the floor, got chucked to the top of a mast, fell in the water next and had to reload the game a couple times. Get ridiculous corruption with AA set to max in game, on the setting below its fine.
I can't say I'm impressed so far, I really hope it improves, a lot.(I generally don't read reviews, beyond a score maybe for games I don't know, I hate knowing much of anything about games, so yes this might all be explained, crap opening and great game after, or all crap).
