Assassin's Creed IV- Black Flag

As great as it looks I can't help thinking I'll feel as remote from my character as I did in AC3, which frankly was a dire console port.

Really hope that's not the case, but it's put me off getting this anytime soon until lots of gamers I know have actually played it through! I hate restricted control or locations. AC3 for me was just a really poor console port, I doubt this will be an improvement.

The problem with AC3 was their lack of optimisation. They added lots of DX11 features, but did nothing with them. I am massively CPU limited in the game. They say they have done a better job of optimising this one, I just hope they are right...

I am also madly excited for this. Can't wait.

Kohlditz's suggestion about a Victorian London one is outstanding. I'm very interested in Jack the Ripper anyway and find the location fascinating. Can you imagine the awesome From Hell style, dark and creepy Whitechapel that Ubisoft could develop.

It looks good, but for me, there needs to be improvements in two main areas. Firstly, the stealth needs to be more free, and secondly, I want to be able to do things how I want to do them, not be forced to do it how the game wants me to... The 'desynchronised' message in AC games has to be one of the most annoying things I have encountered!

Oh, and for the love of god, remove the glow around characters and objects!

In fact, forget about the animus, and all that nonsense altogether... It just gets in the way of an otherwise great game!

True, the animus certainly detracts from the flow of the game. It is an interesting story that is developing though, nothing that I expected from the first installment.

I agree about the animus. That whole thing has been a mistake from the start.

It worked well in AC2,with the glyphs(brilliant idea imo), the codex was well implemented, and a few sections outside the animus, but now it just gets in the way. Plus, if they did get rid of it, there would also be no glow around objects, or any of that flashing landing screen, and effects high pop up every now and then to spoil immersion.

^you still playing 3 Rave? ...i have just added SweetFX, and it looks sublime!

only played about an hour of 3 it just didnt do it for me like the previous ones, might pick up black flag when it drops to the almost free steam sale prices in 12months or so.

Anyone else get a GMG 25% voucher for this via e-mail in the past hour or so? I bought the third one but TBH thought it was dire so I've no intention of getting this one. Wasnt sure if it was a mass mail though.

If anyone wants this is it: TAREM-AC4BF-PROMO

edit: should also give 25% off the seasons pass.

Reviews are saying that it is much improved from AC3....a few that I have read say that it is a similar leap in quality to the difference between the first and second game!
