Assassin's Creed IV- Black Flag

I hope 4 is better and not just "wow people only really liked the sailing from 3, lets make an entire game revolve around that". Was the sailing bit good, yes, was it made to look even better because the rest of the game was lacking, imo, yes. I'll wait for reviews before deciding on this one i feel, and even then probably a sale

Totally agree, except i thought it was bad until it got to the sailing lark. Then it got really bad, for me! I am a devoted fan of the series up to 3 and I'm desperately hoping I can gel with the nautical stuff in the new game.

I was going to get this on PC but caved in and got it on the 360.

It's a good game, but it's not "Assassin's Creed". Not enough sneaky planning, it's either an obvious stealth route or full on combat (which is too easy, like on AC3) and bits 'on foot' are few and far between. Pirate bits are great, but do get repetative after a while.

So while it's much better than AC3, it's not AC2, and fans of the latter may dislike the lack of assassin-y bits which made AC2 as good as it was.

In other words - on a scale of 1-10, if 1 is AC and 10 is Sid Meiers Pirates!, it's more like a 7.

Been playing this a little too. I think its pretty awsome really. Im surprised how fun the ship battles and things are out in the sea. I wasn't so sure in the graphics to begin with but it looks pretty beautiful in parts. It reminds of me far cry 3 a lot in the style of the graphics n the water/weather effects are great.

Wow this is an amazing game! Very well done and the shift to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" genre has really helped put some life back into the series. When your docked in a port its essentially any other Assassins Creed game in regards to the missions/free running and so on. But once your out on the ocean its like nothing else and theres a real sense of exploration when you drop anchor next to an island and go hunting for animals to upgrade your equipment (think FarCry).

Im very impressed so far, it looks very pretty too which is a bonus. It's made me realise there needs to be more pirate games!

What fps do you get maxed out on islands?

I'm in fear of my 670 lol.

Ages,

Since I posted I changed vsync in Nvidia control panel to adaptive. It has helped a lot with smoothness. It might be something to do with the fact I'm running on a 120Hz monitor, and the game is locked at 60fps. I've only had a run about on the island at the start, but the difference was significant enough to say it helped.

Nvidia has posted recommended settings for each card on their guide, saw the link on my fb feed yesterday. For the 670 they suggest god rays on low and fxaa, but apart from that, everything maxed.

Sailing/exploration/pirating - awesome
Normal Assassins Creed missions - very average

Shame the same old issues crop up when in towns but if you focus on the stuff outside then it's very good.

Thank you very much! I liked AC3 but got bored sort of 1/3 into it... Never really went any further. Just felt like there was too much to do and got bored easily. Think this is worth the money? I like pirates :)
