Assassin's Creed Mirage

Oddly enough, I really enjoyed Valhalla up until I got the ship, shortly after I quickly realised it was the same as every other bloated AC out there, go and collect. Which was infuriating as they had made some (not great) progress with the skill system, took a step back in the loot department and actually wrote some great quests. It's just Ubisoft, they don't listen, never will and never have. NFT's!!! They wanted to push NFT's into the gaming space!!!! If Mirage is akin to the OG AC, I'll eat my own socks.

Valhalla was rather bloated but imo Odyssey and Origins in particular are the best two AC games of them all, even with their increased length.

I loved Origins, felt pretty perfect to me. Odyssey just felt too long at the end - I finished the main quest, and was happy that I did, but was also happy I could find something else to play for a while. And that put me off getting Valhalla, so I'll wait for that to drop down in price.

I keep reading people saying Mirage is more like the original AC games but watching this I just dont see any difference at all (particularly in combat) with AC Origins/Odyssey. The only thing to me that seems more like the original games is the smaller map and 15-20 hour game length. Maybe I'm missing something but gamesize aside it still appears to play identically to AC Origins/Odyssey

looks very similar, maybe it's just more how they feed missions in to you so less side quests to find? 20 hours honestly sounds kinda awful, way to short for an open world game

I've been playing Valhalla on and off for a year now and still only half way through. Has some good bits but I can't play for more than a few hours before playing something else

"mirage is 5 times shorter than Valhalla", that really sounds like a knee jerk reaction to user feedback

100%

Its honestly looks like a reskin. Also Ubisoft cannot create a genuine feeling world, they are always so souless and lack the class and conviction of something like RDR2.

Always the same font, the same ui.

Yeah, that's what people have been hoping for but, as I've already said here, it looks disappointingly similar to the rest in terms of movement, combat and general feel. Oh, well.

Ubisoft: "Some people (especially reviewers) dont like the length of our games. Ubi Focus Group - "Okay - Cut 75% off the game length and map size - cut 20% of the price. They will love it. Suckers !!"

I mean I'm sure I will like it, I got hundreds of hours out of AC Origins/Odyssey and Valhalla and loved Origins and Odyssey in particular. Its just that I dont get why those people who didnt like the route they took with the 3 most recent AC games keep touting AC Mirage as evidence that Ubisoft have gone back to the original AC style when it looks like it plays exactly the same as recent ACs and is merely smaller

PSA: You can start the preload on PC right now through Ubisoft Connect. It's 34GB.
Ah, I'll get that downloaded then , I've signed up for 1 month of Ubi+ at 12.99, should be easily able to complete Mirage in 1 month, so 12.99 is probably the cheapest way to play it.

so apparently it's just Valhalla engine with a mix of Valhalla and other titles move sets combined and sped up. At 25~ hours this is basically a Valhalla DLC for $50

rewatching that last vid really triggered something though, it's the level design is just so stupid. It's very hot dry climate in the daytime and pretty much every building has open fire pits and burning oil pots resting on bare wood roofs. Origins did similar but I think Valhalla does it less and most buildings are stone so kinda gets away with it

As it's a cross gen title, it could be the last time they use that engine and then do what Far cry 7 is doing by moving onto the Snowdrop engine for current gen consoles and PC

I was sceptical because it's Ubisoft but along with the price, the game really does look like Valhalla DLC or standalone expansion. I fell off of the AC train long ago and this just looks like another miss for me.

This game is going to get hate and I could see it a mile away

They cut the so back so much, made it so much smaller than the previous 3 games and they haven't added anything back to make up for it

combat looks pretty jank as well, it's the old slash 10 times and enemy at half health but do a counter and instant death. So just sit there press X then Y and enemy dies, enemy attacks one at a time

Or just throw smoke bomb thing, all enemies go in to stupid state and can be chain assassinated. You'd expect them to flail around with their sword if blinded not just stand like target dummies

True, you would, but then again I guess you'd also expect someone head diving from 100ft into a pile of hay would simply go straight through the hay and smash themselves to death on the ground underneath :D
