Finally got the ship all golded out, so much resource, but seems there are so many tablets to upgrade which is good. Also been messing around now that I have a few legendary sets complete. Seems kind of cheeky in that you unlock the 5 piece bonus as a single engraving. Will mean you can get epic sets to be much stronger as you just apply the entire 5 piece engraving to the epic set without wasting a locked 5 piece bonus engraving with legendary and apply multiple legendary set bonus engravings to each Epic set piece.

On another note, when is the community event? Is there any requirement aside from being level 30 as a minimum?

Are the tablets only for ship upgrades? I've been holding off as don't want to waste then

Ancient tablets are only for ship upgrades. So would use them whenever you have enough saved to upgrade the next part of your ship.

The other sort of tablet you pick up called "Ainigmata Ostraka" are for upgrading engraving perks. As engravings have multiple levels, you can also solve them as soon as you get the tablets to start unlocking the next level engraving.

My suggestion of completing the odyssey’s are

The Cult
The main one with the mother
Atlantis

The Atlantis one really does finish the game off properly.

Erm, so I just logged in for a quick game before bed and got greeted to this before the main menu screen even appeared. Bit confused as to why the game is introducing a new merc to me this way?

The events started today, part of the events is new epic mercs (and new epic ships) to defeat which drop special event loot. I imagine thats one of the new epic mercs

Does anyone know what the 'Elemental Buildup' stat does on various bits of armour by any chance? At the moment I've moved from a Poison to Fire build despite setting myself on fire at every opportunity. This was because I grabbed a large FIRE mace weapon off a merc last night. It is a bit slow but really hurts when it lands!

Ok, reddit got me this answer, which makes sense.

Buildup = takes less hits before the enemy is on fire or intoxicated
