Assassin's Creed Odyssey

I really confused myself when I arrived at a new place, went to attack an outpost, then realised it was Spartan controlled. Then they attacked me...but I like the Spartans! Am I still meant to attack these places??? But then I weaken them? Conflicted...

Guess I will just enjoy mercenary life and go for the best rewards :D

Still in Phokis, got distracted by some random naval sidequests and found some new places... the game's so massive I'm afraid it'll burn me out before I finish it.

Recently arrived myself and aimlessly wandering about. Trying to complete every location, although there seems to be no achievement for it?

Just chiming in, it's taken me a hair over 4 hours and 30 minutes to get past the 'intro', you know, when it states 'Ubisoft presents' bit.

I did everything on the starting island. All side quests, caves, treasures etc. Not bad!

Similar here, and then you zoom out on the world map

Seems a lot bigger than Origins, not just in map size, but also variety and density of different types of locations. Confused whether the mercenary board is offering radiant quests or not (the times ones?)?

Was it considered lucky in ancient Greece to keep 3 drachmae in an urn in the corner of every room? :D

:D

You do really need to play more smarter in this game, at least in harder difficulties when it comes to forts and killing in town. Had an epic battle with 3 mercenaries and fort boss's that went on for 10 mins, epic stuff :D so much more to combat vs being an overpowered monster as per prior titles.

True. Origins I used to just run in as loud as possible and fight everyone. I am planning my approach much more carefully this time and using assassination much more - makes it all much more fun. Combat is fun, quite rewarding when you chain together dodges and parries basically having most of the fight in slow mo (which is also a neat feature).

Had my first full bounty meter with about 5 bounty hunters chasing me around a fort :D (was enjoying it until a bounty hunter 4 levels higher appeared).

Eliminated the boar. Quite easy after the war elephants of origins! I love that you can complete quests without having taken them on.

Can’t believe how impressive the game looks while running so well.

That does sound a little high. Is it like Origins where you are better off waiting until a much higher level to upgrade it? I never bothered with Origins except for when I had the very best rare items and then reached max level.

Amazing to think how long I have been in just one small location. Still working on discovering it all. Have barely been on my ship.

Read earlier that respecs are pretty cheap. Good to hear. Apparently poison is better than fire, but fire is so cool. Interesting change to the weapon effect mechanics. Have taken on the damage reduction (armour) perk and have something like 60% reduction now. The health restore ability is pretty useful too.

Yeah you don't need to upgrade and plenty just swap armour in and out. To be honest it likely aggravates those who pick up the gear from the store, the peguses kit for myself. Such awesome looking gear, but very very expensive to upgrade.

Do the 'special' sets e.g. treasure and purchased, scale to your level? If so I guess it is like Origins where you don't want to pick a lot of it up until max level is reached?

You are a fast player ! :p About 6 hours into it and don't think I am close to the "Ubisoft Present" part yet. Then again, I always take my time playing any games so most likely me that is a very slow player ! :o

What on earth are you doing. I thought I was slow :p

It might take you a lifetime to complete this...

Are microtransactions really that prevalent? There was no mention of them until like a week ago, and then everyone is talking about them and that the game is a grind because of them.

It is the usual minority who like to moan. There is zero reason to use any microtransactions unless you want to cheat your way through the game. They are entirely optional. I have outlevelled all of my current content.
