Assassin’s Creed Origins

After 60 hours I've finally finished it, all objectives on the map polished off. Towards the end it started getting slightly repetitive but I've enjoyed my playtime and looking forward to Tuesday when the first DLC is released.

Wasn't sold on the modern day storyline unless they decide to expand on that more in either of the DLC's coming.

It's your RAM at stock, GPU at stock? Also, what driver you on?

Hi bud, on 388.31 as mentioned. Mild overclock on the 1080Ti but tested at stock and still same. RAM is at 2600 even though it's 3000 rated (can't get it to run on my board at 3000 for some reason).

It's a really weird specific crash though. Never in game, only on these 2 specific menu sections (inventory and abilities - crashes to desktop after about 3 or 4 seconds on each). All other games and everything else 100% fine.

Any ideas?

EDIT - FOUND THE PROBLEM - Was my sweetfx profile causing this specific crash! I use sweetfx (an old version) to apply just a sharpening filter when using low AA settings which give the best performance (even compared to AA off - weird!) but has the muddiness of TXAA. Time to investigate reshade I guess as I need to use sharpening after trying without (looks like vasoline on the screen).

Just started this earlier, seems great so far. What type of bow do people generally prefer using? I'm only a few hours in at level 5. Also surprised with how it runs, don't see anything like 100% across all cores and runs above 60fps most of the time maxed out bar shadows on very high at 1440p with fov increased to max 115.

^^ later on you unlock two weapon slots for ranged and melee which is great for having a fast bow and a long range sniper at your disposal.

I tend to use the guided arrow bows, totally unrealistic of course but the camera following the arrow to the target is useful in some situations

Predator and Hunter where my go to bows with abilitys in both, later on you'll get bows that have the on fire perk which are useful for starting combat with.

I know I'm quoting myself, but in case anyone's interested the latest version of Reshade works fine and has none of the crashing issues I was detailing before.

So I'm back to using a decent sharpening filter (just lumasharpen at about 1.500, which is quite high but it needs it) whilst using low AA settings and all is dandy. Only problem now is the slight 'ghosting' around the character when moving against certain backgrounds when using the low AA setting, although on researching it looks like it will forever be an issue due to the type of AA the low setting uses. Ghost Recon Wildlands has the same issue with certain ingame AA settings too. Bah.

With 6700k I was experiencing hitching and total freezes with 100% usage on all 8 threads. Luckily, I had a 5930k to switch to and the difference is night and day.
my 4790k isnt happy either. I rarely get hitches but they do happen and the cpu is pretty much at 95% util most of the time. Also my 1080ti is not 100% in use even at ultra preset 1440p.. It also seems that even my avx 12+ hour stable OC of 4,7 will cause this game to crash roughly every 1½-2 hours so no performance to be gained from there. Its ******* me off to say the least. outside of these technical challenges i however really like the game so fare. It has its faults but overall very enjoyable and a good looking game.

So far for me it's business as usual on the older maps, it feels more like doing sidequests and polishing locations off rather than an expanding DLC story, The ending might be better when I get there.

Had one crash yesterday, but I am running a fairly solid CPU and GPU overclock.

Played about an hour of the new area....shame you can't just sail across to it. Nice to have higher level enemies to deal with again, got murdered by a vulture because I forgot they go up to 43 now!
