Assassin’s Creed Origins

Jeezes this game has been ******* me off today *grin*. Im lvl 23 and i play on hardcore because otherwise challenge is non existing(and it still is some times). So a phylake are after me, tough SoB, and whenever the fool is about 50% health fire arrows from some random spawned patrol starts raining down on me and no matter where i pull this one shotting phylake random patrols starts dropping from the sky apparently and poops fire arrows outta thin air like how the **** do you do that, neat trick. So after a few deaths this way i figure out that the AI can be fairly easily confused by 2 walls in, "L" formation, leading to me being able to circle around and backstabbing the phylake 3 times causing his death fairly easy and the game responds in the biggest of "**** you!!!" by crashing to desktop.

Totally forgot about this game to be honest, is it good? I mean, I never really got into the franchise, I played the first 2.

I think most comments in this thread speak for themselves :)

It is indeed a blast and refreshing entry into the series after them churning them out year after year. Egypt is an amazing setting and they did really well there, graphics for most the part look great, character you play is reasonably likable and game world is massive (though not unnecessarily outside of few desert regions which is to be expected in Egypt). While playing the other games does help somewhat, as this game is set so far back in the past (origins after all) there is no overarching story setup as of yet with the Assassins vs Templar so your not missing anywhere there either (aside from few out of animas sequences)

For me so fare the following is true

Pro's:
Detailed & beautiful crafted world
Combat is improved much over previous games (still needs a bit of work i feel but overall good)
The million icons on the map is mostly gone and only relevant information is there, a much needed improvement for OCD freaks like myself.
A ton to do, including pretty decent side quests.
I like the RPG elements of upgrading your character and his gear.

Con's:
DRM solution is dreadful, i dont care what ubisoft claims, it is draining some performance.
Forts/camps are a bit to monotone in its objectives. Kill X (1-3 targets), loot X (1-4 chests) rinse and repeat.
I do not like how damage is scaling vs higher level enemies
The cash shop selling materials for upgrading your gear among other things.
The grind for materials(some are worse than others) which makes last point even worse and offending.

Neutral:
Main story is passable. Not terrible but not great either. Its alright so fare(havent completed the game yet).

Hence why they have 4 + DLC on the way to carry on the story.

For anyone that's finished the first DLC how long did it take you?

I've done everything in the bottom two maps so far and it's not took me long at all, no doubt only need a hour or two in the top area and I'll have it finished.

It's interesting to see just how much influence this has taken from tw3.
I've completely ignored this game(like I have the whole AC series so far), but from the amount of praise this game is getting I'm thinking of adding it to my list. Your comment was going to be my question about the game. I'm not expecting it to be a good as TW3, but is the quality at least comparable, I can see the graphics are top notch, but what about the main quest, the side quests, the amount of depth of the world etc?

I'm only about 11 hours in but I'd say the quality is comparable. I didn't play either game at launch so played post patching. So far, I do still prefer TW3 but mainly for the setting/world, story, monsters/enemy variety and gwent. There is no doubt this game does many things better though, combat being the standout so far. I think they missed a trick with the gearing system and 'outfits', however it's by no means bad. I've barely played any of the previous AC games either.

I have not played in a couple of weeks. (no game for that matter) But had a bit of time so thought I would have a go t a few quests.

Something strange is going on with my monitor. I have changed nothing, drivers or settings wise. In the menu its fine, but when I play my monitor keeps going in to sleep mode (orange power light).

Desktop and the menu of the game fine. Anyone got any clues.

TIA

Loving the new dlc. More of the same, but not complaining about that! Loving the new enemy scaling option and looking forward to the next dlc that should mix it up.

I bought the dlc yesterday. Really looking forward to getting back in to the game now.

I like dlc done like this. No need to start a new game, I'll just load up my previous save and pick up where I left off.
