Assassin's Creed Syndicate thread.

He's got everything on very high he says. So that'll be why :)

Thought so:p Highest settings in games usually aren't worth it, so it's always best to settle for very high/high instead of ultra. There are countless examples where we'd be hard-pressed to spot a difference unles staring at a rock for 15 minutes. PCSS looks realistic but no way is it worth the performance hit, same with HBAO+ Ultra.

Tell him to dial in my settings and report back, should be a lot better and without a significant visual hit:p

I'm watching him now and I've toned it down a bit still looks great, really impressed with the graphics and solid 60fps now.

But bragging rights of max tho? :D

Anyone gone swimming yet? The after effects are great.

Does settings matter for cutscene ??

Game certainly doesn't like working with a dual core athlon. A whopping 10 fps when moving around the opening factory scene :D

Might be time I swapped in the Phenom x4 I've had in the drawer for the past year....

I paid £24 for the SE via Gamesdeal which I had used before with no issues... £17 seems a real bargain though.

I started it last night and have been playing slowly all morning and I'm loving it so far. I'm using the 'High' settings preset, and get a reasonable 35 to 60 with that, even though my VRAM (GTX670 2GB) is exceeded by over 700MB according to the menu [I've not measured usage]... despite that I've not had any serious stuttering issues, but may see if a 30fps lock keeps those I have been getting a bay.

For the most part I think the game look great... the only thing is I thought the time was fully dynamic?... I've stood in one place for a few minutes and did not see the shadows move even a tiny bit... maybe I didn't give it long enough

Just installing from the DVD version, why it's called the Rooks edition I'm not sure. It comes with a map of London, a booklet full of ingame photo's & two additional missions & for some reason it's £10 less than the download version

It's the answer for all those who have a crap internet connection :o

And Ubi have put the full game on the DVD's unlike some other publishers, who force you to dl' GB's of data... I would have gone for the physical release, but was uncertain as to how my PC would handle the game, but as it transpires I'm pretty happy... and glad I didn't get it for the PS4.

I've now locked it to 30fps and upped the Environment Quality to Very High and AO to HBAO+ and I've yet to see it drop below this, and 30fps is fine for this type of game for me.

Now I just need to get better at playing it... it takes me multiple attempts to get through each mission. I spent two hours on the prologue, sneaking and killing every soul :o

I think SLI scaling on this is better than AC Unity. I am playing at 4K with the following settings and fps average around 50fps.

Nvidia Gameworks are very taxing in this game and truning them off doesn't affect my gaming experience but adds valueable fps. HBAO+ doesn't hurt much. About 3fps hit going from SSAO to HBAO+. But PCSS for shadows seem to be the major culprit. HBAO Ultra / PCSS ULTRA are just an overkill and give massive performance hit.
