Assassin's Creed: Unity

After a few hours of gameplay I've gotta say, I'm enjoying the storyline. But that may be because I got the game for free, I'd be pretty ****ed if I had paid for it. Especially £50.

I guess I've been quite lucky when it comes to glitches, I've had nothing really game-breaking happen, so far.
There is a LOT of pop-in with NPC's and I've found that the free-running is really clunky and it's quite hard to get about from building to building without a lot of awkwardness. Frame rates seem to be quite steady most of the time but I randomly get spikes where it just drops to 1-5fps for no apparent reason.

This is my attitude. After buying The Evil Within on launch day, it was the final straw. I'm more than happy to buy their games, but only when they actually work. After all, even if a game is completely broken when you buy it, you can't get any kind of customer service and a refund is totally out of the question as far as the vendor is concerned.

They need to stop treating early adopters who pay full price like beta testers.

I know its hard and i've been guilty of falling for hype.

That said there seems to be no protection for gamers. I mean Watchdogs looked nothing like what was advertised. Exactly the same with Total War 2.

Yet we can't get any refunds and just expected to accept it.

Right...

This game was awful. They said they wanted to reboot the franchise, so to speak, to remove all the narrative baggage that is required for a sequal. Well, they failed miserably. In doing so they've created a game that has no place. The main story is disjointed and boring, the characters are bland and the city is just a blurry mess (Yes I played the game on Ultra). Plus the new fighting and free running mechanics can be incredibly frustrating at times.

The out of the Animus story, previous Desmond and what have you, just doesn't exist. The little they had, they just rammed it down your throat with jarring forays into other time zones. What was the point? To make it worse, they wrap it up with a voice over half way through the credits that basically says, "Oh, everything is fine. Why don't you keep getting achievements and making microtransactions until the sequal to this turd" What a shame.

:D

I feel similarly, I almost feel like people in here are shills saying the story is good as it's exceptionally boring so far with as I've said before as well, exceptionally bland characters. There is nothing making me want my guy to succeed, or fail, there is no life in anything.

The city is full yet bland as well. Same what 3-4 civilian action things going on, all of which are boring and pointless. Combat is even worse with from what I've seen a combination of more punishing damage but also camera which gets so close in a group of people you can't actually see when people are attacking you.

Another awful change to the gear/upgrades system, in some way designed to implement buying things with real currency so they've taken it out of stores, which makes more sense, and put it in an awful menu with no god damned comparison system. So you click through 30 ruddy bracers and you can't remember what stats your current ones have let alone which ones you want to buy. Simple things like that, the interface is horrible all over.

Having points to spend on skills, amazingly they make that horrible, keep putting a large box up on screen and making a noise to draw you away from immersion.

There is one improvement from previous games, getting down from a tall building is MUCH quicker(well, without damage anyway). Everything else is basically worse. The more I see of the city the more I do somewhat like the general feel of it. Just too much duplication in side quests, pointlessly large and performance killing crowds that don't improve the game, half the number of people and not only would the numbers not make any difference, they would likely have zero issues with texture loading, way less bugs, have less characters changing dress/hat as they approach you and less groups appearing directly in front of you our of thin air as you're running.

Had another fall through the map, got stuck in two more places, and the story just isn't pulling me in at all.

Having reached Sequence 9, I can safely say I do not remember any of the previous missions... the story just isn't gripping me like it did with 3 and 4.
Exact same thing happened with 3 & 4 for me - AC3 moreso. Both games were so dire with the land based missions that nothing, not even the characters were remembered. All I do actually recall was Haytham Conway from AC3 and Blackbeard from AC4.

Considering I believe AC3 and Black Flag to be truly bad games, this is a real mixed bag. In some ways it massively improves in them- Mission structure, narrative, parkour. In some it is a lot worse- combat is much slower, world feels bland, decent features removed from previous games, the accents!

It does at least sort out the biggest problem though, by getting rid of the forced-fail States, and creating missions where you actually have some freedom, and I have to commend it for that... Also, there is a lot less intrusive rubbish like flashing objects and the animus nonsense!

As for the story, at least it actually make sense unlike Black Flag!

I can't play mine now :(.

Had to do a system restore to fix some issues and the restore date was before ACU was installed. Uplay forced me to reinstall (and re-downloaded the whole game) but keeps downloading corrupt files...

Looks like it Synced my corrupt save file to the cloud, useless piece of software. Now I can't even recover it from there.

Anyone else had this? I'm failing to see the funny side of this tbh.

Had this a couple of times plus constantly crashing .. Verifying files works for a bit

This release is worse that watchdogs I hope FC4 isn't this bad

I have brought every Assassin's Creed excluding the ones that were meant for portable consoles and I have to say I will not be buying this one unless it comes to steam for £10 and these bugs get fixed, look at the popping is enough without the s***y graphics to go with it.
