Assetto Corsa Competizione

@Matty8787 AC is a great game, elevated to incredible levels due to the phenomenal work of the modding community, delivering an outstanding amount of mods for just about anything out there. For the low price you can find the base game, any racing/car enthusiast would really be silly to miss such a great game, I highly recommend it and have many modding videos and tutorials on my channel if you want to get into it.

ACC on the other hand is a much smaller game in comparison with it's scope of just delivering on GT3 and GT4 content, but my god does it deliver. I'm only just really getting into now, which was kinda forced onto me due to trying to save money by cutting back on my iRacing sub and setup subs. I've actually been very surprised by how good it is now and currently playing through to try and build up my safety rating to enter the LFM (Low Fuel Motorsport) servers as essentially it's an iRacing structure but without the costs. I would really encourage you to try out both, but maybe the original AC with all the mods would be the most sensible money wise. I guess it's what ever fits your needs, but both will not disappoint what ever you opt for.

Talking of which, I think I'm finally picking up the heavier handling of ACC, had my most enjoyable race to date, ACC is really making me smile now when racing. Safety Rating is at 74 now, so just 6 more points needed to enter the LFM and get my license.

Thanks, will sub and probably pick up AC.

Just finished building my first rig…I’m shockingly slow at this game

Good fun so far in the 2 hours I’ve spent on it but I’m fairly certain the AI on its lowest setting is lapping 10+ seconds quicker than me at Monza :D

Assetto Corsa noob here as I installed it yesterday for the first time in years.

What's the difference between Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione?

I've installed Assetto Corsa, content manager, custom shaders pack, 2 cars (VR Formula Alpha 2007 - Ferrenzo F07 and VRC Formula Alpha 2007 McLenna MC2) and a few extra tracks. My favourite track so so is Monaco GP Circuit-2017 which I downloaded for free. Build in ones, I like Monza 1966 road course because its so easy. I tried Silverstone national at 3am in heavy fog, not recommended because I forgot F1 cars dont have headlights :D

Control wise I havent got a steering wheel, pedals or anything but have been using a Dual shock 3 controller which seems to work quite well.

Any advise on how to make it look better and free F1 cars is welcome :)

ACC is just GT3 and GT4 cars, it is not moddable.
You would play ACC if you wanted to get more into the online stuff and liked those two series. Otherwise if your just messing about then AC will suit you fine for now.
I assume you installed Sol give you have CSP, but if you haven't that's really the only thing missing outside of content.
A few free F1 cars here https://racesimstudio.com/shop

Thanks and yes, I installed Sol 2.2.2 from racedepartment.com yesterday :)
I noticed it says 'Rain is a part of CSP preview versions' but that requires a monthly payment so didnt install a preview version. Does that mean I miss out on rain effects? (Which I can see in Apps is set at 0% and greyed out 'Sol <1.2 rain amount'
Im using CSP 0.1.78 with Sol 2.2.2 set in Weather FX. Controller script I left on default

You have to sign up to iljas patreon in order to get the full rain features in CSP.

The experimental rain physics you can enable aren’t great though despite it visually being pretty impressive
I read there was a donation (which is fine) but it looks like its a monthly payment subscription to iljas patreon. Does that sound correct?

It’s monthly if you want to keep up to date with his latest builds but you could simply donate £1 now and then never update again and you’d have access to the current build you downloaded forever. Then in six months if you want to see where the mod is at you can simply donate another £1 and get the most up to date build.

Cool, might do this.

Car wise, there's VRC cars which are free. Both are great - https://www.virtual-racing-cars.com/free/
I might pay for this one. 1999/2000 was the pinnacle of F1 - https://www.virtual-racing-cars.com/p/formula-na-1999/

As @iamtheoneneo pointed out, there are these https://racesimstudio.com/shop The 1990 V12 looks good but will probably get the VRC V10 first

I'm also picking up a G27 wheel, pedals and shifter today :)

Update
I've now got weather fully working including rain in the Custom shaders pack 0.1.79-preview5.
Favourite car so far is the McLaren MP4-20 2005 from VRC
The VRC cars are fantastic. I've also just bought the Formula RSS 2000 V10 - https://racesimstudio.sellfy.store/p/rss2000v10/

Favourite track Spa 1966 because its nice and easy :)

Playing on a G27 I picked up for a reasonably good price the other day. Other than Assetto Corsa, Dirt rally is really fun

This might help others.

edit - managed a 2:59.750 at Spa 1966 course, great fun

Managed to put a few hours in to this now. I've been focussing on Monza in the 2015 AMG GT3 to try and get to grips with sim racing a bit. Managed to get in to the 1:50s but not consistently! I can drive for 15 minutes doing ok laps and then completely screw up a corner and bin it in to the wall
