Assetto Corsa Competizione

Why is it pointless? does it just take away the "realism"? Im looking for better control and currently using a PS5 pad s surely a wheel is what I want for this?

I mean yeh you will probably have better control than a joypad but there's a reason pretty much no one makes wheels without FFB... there is no market for them. FFB is everything, it allows you to feel what the car is doing.

For £90 you can get a second hand Driving Force GT, the pedals will suck but the pedals are going to suck on any cheap wheel you get.

I would just get a cheap Logitech g27/g29 from fakebook marketplace for around £90
This would be my choice as well. Decent enough wheel and pedals (plus there are mods you can do to make them even better if you really get into it), may come with a shifter also. Not much really changed between the models so either is fine and they seem to be going cheap all the time.

I just had a quick look on FB marketplace and 3 G27's £100-120.

Picked up a G29 with free shifter from that catalogue store. Had a quick bask and didn't feel the rumble feedback as much as I remember the old T150 did. When I go over corner bumpers I do feel a little tremble but its not much... will mess around with the in game settings later. The steering is very sensitive which is going to take some time practicing on. Need to stop my chair from moving back now lol The pedals make a handy foot rest ;)

Update after a few hours with the wheel:

I downloaded Logitech Hub and laucnhed the game. This time the FBB is really there. I can feel everything especially how I need to fight the car to get it to go where I want. I'm in N3 stage now using a KTM X BOW R, it feels like a go kart on steroids haha

I switched over to flappy paddle gears but soon switched back; it was too difficult to find the line AND select gears at the same time. Maybe with practice I'll get there but for now automatic gear box is for me... I enjoy the game a lot more.

I set the Ai to 85% and aggression to 50% which is the sweet spot between challenging but not impossible.

I found this guide on Reddit and got the mods, the game looks ridiculously realistic:

With regard to the sensitivity, you need to set 900 degrees rotation in the logitech control panel thingy and then calibrate within Assetto Corsa. This way the game will automatically adjust the steering rotation of your wheel to match the real-life steering rotation of whichever car you are driving (giving you a perfect 1:1 ratio between in game steering wheel and your g29). This is a pretty critical thing to get right otherwise everything will feel wrong.

To stop an office chair moving back, search amazon for 'QWORK® 2” Office chair feet , Carpet Chair Casters'. These work great as a replacement for office chair wheels.

Also for your FFB settings you should turn off all the 'effects' in the AC settings (road, kerbs, slip, ABS) as these are all canned effects. Then dld and install the FFBclip app from here

This makes the game automatically adjust your FFB level so that it doesn't clip. If the level it suggests/selects is too strong you can still lower it via the app... it's primary aim is to show you where the max level of FFB is before it starts clipping and giving you false information.

Glad you went with the better option and are enjoying it. It does take some tweaking to get things right but with the advice on here and many youtube videos am sure you will be able to get it perfect for you :)

If you do decide to go one step further and get a 'mounting rig' I recommend the Playseat Challenge, foldable so easy to store, well built, compatible and again you may be able to find one locally heavily discounted.

Enjoy!

I got a cheap rig from the forest. It's basically three prices of metal screwed together but folds so won't make the Mrs upset.

Decided to try it on the ps5 playing GT Sport. Can instantly feel how unrealistic that game is compared to Asseto Corsa...currently downloading the Champion version of the latter on my PS5 to try out

just got my LFM licence, but tbh if i can get it anyone can, doing my first rookie race later, let the carnage begin:cry:

got to 7 clean laps at barca under 1.49, think most could do that on a zimmer

remove the black stopper from brake pedal, makes brake sooo hard, lap times improved so much with it removed

I can't. I suck. Can't get my sa rating to 80. Tried offline mode racing but gets boring and can only gain 1 sa point if that on a 20min ai race where I am basically following some cars station within half a second and overtaking some as start from the back.

Pub online games you can forget about it
