Assetto Corsa

As someone who doesn't have a steering wheel (and don't really have plans to buy one anytime soon), is this game worth it? I'd be playing with PS4/360 controller

It's doable, but you'll have to find yourself a good pad config to get the most out of it.
Some cars will be an utter pita with a pad though.

In online lobbies, I've spectated on various other drivers and you can tell who's using a pad by the wheel movements.
There are a few guys putting in decent times from what I've seen, but I have to say that most of the pad guys seem to be struggling a fair bit and are often a liability to other drivers. Not saying you will be or anything, it's just an observation :)

Thanks, that was what I was worried about

Is it just me or is career a bit rubbish? All you do is race & time trials, no tuning or anything like that? Or have I not progressed far enough?

It's a racing sim, not NFS. Sure tuning would be nice but it's never realistically going to involve much more that just driving.

True, probably been playing too much gran turismo - would be nice to have race series and buying your own cars though like gran turismo
Think I'll stick mostly to online :)

Buying cars like in GT would mean that to begin with all cars would be locked and you would start with Honda Fit Fiat 500... Sim community just cant accept this kind of mechanic I think, most of them hate single player racing against AI in any shape or form, so almighty whine would ensue.

I personally really like the Career, it is in fact very similar in approach to GT, but here you win races not by buying more powerful parts and cars, but by skill- you actually have to outdrive the competition, which is really cool imho. one big thing that is missing is the driving school of GT, that would be great, but apart from that career is pretty good imo.

Plus its fully moddable, so already there are a bunch of custom made Careers - Ferrari challenge, Touring car etc

I didn't care much for it before but I re installed Snoopy's Nords v1.1 and wow, the current version looks excellent. The graphics are much improved, most of the trees still look iffy but the tarmac textures look great. I'm sure some of the corners and topography have been improved too. It certainly feels less like an ugly rfactor conversion that it was before.

Any of you boys had sound issues with any mods. Does the civic still not have audio? As that could answer that one. But f1 cars and reliant haven't either on my setup

Wondering if I have missed something

There are fixes out for the F1 cars for the audio. I am not too sure about any other mods. I am sure they changed the audio processing within the engine.

With RC 1.0 they changed to FMOD for the sound engine, so all mods need updated.

Best to check the AC forums for progress.

Ahhh thanks very much for the heads up(s) everyone

Need to get my head back on the forums properly to catch up with everything
