Assetto Corsa

yes i been trying the v3 pedals.work of art but god damn you know you using em :D

anyone got a set up for the nismo nissan and nord ? getting faster but need something for gearing for a start.

its worth buying the game alone for that one track

Dude, I already told you that you can't adjust the gearing on that car :p
You've got alignment, tyre pressure and that's about it for that one.

Assuming you're still talking about the Nismo GTR.

Yeah, I used to have a DFGT before I took a break from sim racing and then came back to it with Clubsport pedals.
It definitely took a fair bit of relearning, but I suppose it wasn't as bad as if I'd had no break and done a straight swap.

Getting used to virtually stamping on it with a bit of modulation, rather than gently pressing (or knowing how far to gently press) to avoid a lockup takes a little while to acclimate to.

Like that moment when you just become a total passenger in the car , had a few moments like that and I must admit, respect to racing drivers. As some of the offs I have had with the new G29 pedals has left the car in a bit of a mess..

Considering gravel traps are meant to mostly slow you down, had one off where the car just seemed to jump over the gravel and lodge itself into the tire barrier, FFB goes nuts, I had a remote control on the table, which ended up the floor after that little trip into the barrier.. Racing drivers earn their money.. : - )

You soon get used to it, and when you do, you couldn't go back :)

As for the respect for the real life drivers thing, I felt the same way when trying to park in Euro Trucks :D Man, those guys earn their money.

i can adjust the gearing :D and all the rest :p

sorry its the Nissan Nissan GT-R GT3

my pb was 7:13 now down to 7:09 so need some set up to start shaving off the time . i know i need a longer last gear on the long run in for home probably gain 4 secs alone on that bit apart from default.

im just ricky bobbying it for now.need a mechanic :D

Well, you shoulda said.. :p

Tbh, I don't do the GT-R.
I think it's a slug, handling wise (without getting deep into setup), though it does have good straightline.

Oh yeah, and I recommended RSR for setups on the last page. There are plenty there for that car/track combo :)

Erm, I guess you don't desperately need any 3rd party apps to get you started. Just run through the available list and see which ones are useful to you right now tbh.
Stuff like Tyres, Essentials, Pedals, Track map and Delta should sort you out for now.

Car wise, just go with whatever you like the look of :) It really depends where you're coming from and what your preferences are.

Settings

Have a good look at your button mapping options and keyboard shortcuts.
I'd recommend at least mapping traction control to a button. You can do + & -, but if you're short on buttons, you can just use one to cycle through.

When doing your practice session settings, turn off STM and enable factory ABS/TC. This means you can adjust TC/ABS on the fly if the car has those features - and there are usually different levels depending on the car.

Graphics

I don't know what your specs are, but you're probably able to max it out. It's not particularly demanding.
Just turn off FXAA and lower the reflection rendering frequency to medium/low or something. It's a performance hog and offers little perceivable benefit outside of photo mode.

That's pretty much it off the top of my head.

ED: And turn off suggested line. It really doesn't help, apart from giving you a rough idea. Problem is, it teaches you dodgy braking points.

I know the rulle of thumb be patient, practice>fast on the straight>slow into corner>fast out.

Any important apps l should use.

Good beginners cars to start with.

Thanks.

Important apps I'd say

RsR livetime
Helicorsa
Mapdisplay
TheSetupMarket (amazing app, can download setups on the fly when your in a car on a track, it downloads the setup and places it for you automatically)

Get a couple of the Hondas downloaded, definitely get a Teggy DC2 K20 and maybe a few Civics...they are fun to start driving out learning the tracks.

G29 here, no issues like that. Few things I found out:

In the G29 profiler thing, go to axis properties, turn sensitivity to 100%, wheel operating range is 900, and make sure the next box is unticked.

In game, this is what I have if it helps. I read keeping the wheel rotation at 40 degrees in game is better than setting it to 900, think I read it relies on the Logitech profile first and foremost.

Man you are a genius. That worked a treat. I have way more control with the car now. Would have posted to thank you sooner, but was having too much fun driving about silverstone in an MX5, then a 488. Wicked fun with a G29 wheel once its set correctly.

I personally could not live without Rivali OV1 Info app. Way better UI app for much of the crucial information and consolidates like 5 different standard AC apps into one nice looking(and customizable) one.

Quick screen with how it looks on mine:

Also has tire info and a couple other little things I have turned off.

I used to use that, but it turned out that it was known to cause issues like stuttering here and there, which I suffered from until uninstalling it.

Perhaps it's sorted now. It was a few game updates ago.

Apps - another vote for Helicorsa.

Beginner cars - FWD Fiat500 is a lot of fun on Magione, Top Gear and Valelunga. RWD Lotus Elise/Evora, Bmw e30 m3, z4, m4 and e92 m3 are all good too. Finally, beginner openwheeler Tatuus FA01 is used in CSAI racing school at Valelunga and it is awesome too.

But really, all cars (apart from some crazy race monsters) are instantly driveable in AC, there is no "ice" feeling that is common to many simulators. So just pick any car you like the look of and stick with it for a little while.
