Assetto Corsa

We have a multiclass endurance race using GT3's and the URD PX1 Revolution at Paul Ricard this Saturday if you fancy it?

Failing that, I believe Sunday is free this weekend. We could sort something out for then if you like?
What kind of stuff do you guys generally like driving?

Thanks for coming back Uncle Petey.

We've been participating as a team in the iRacing Blancpain Endurance Series, driving an AMG GT3.

Other than know, Im aware a few of the guys also race single driver with Skip Barber, Formula Renault 2.0 and Kia Cup.

Notified the fellas we have some options, hopefully they'll be along. Can you provide more info on the endurance race?

For my part I'd probably be looking at something not too serious for first proper race ever in AC, without any need to spend time upfront with car setup. Even perhaps a few shorter races with variety of cars as recommended by yourself.

Having a rift, I found the KTM to be good fun, as did looking around the gorgeous interior of the 458. Happy to give anything a go upon recommendation.

Cheers!

We're always up for getting new people involved :)

Info for the ELMS Enduro series here. It's a once a month thing.
Don't worry about getting hold of the URD car.
If you guys have iRacing experience, you don't need to worry about things being too serious. As long as you have track awareness and are there to enjoy yourself, it'll be fine.

We could set up a couple of sprint races in something like the Ginetta GT4. They're always good for close racing and don't require much setup.

Do you guys all have the DLC packs? Just so I know if there are any content limitations.

We generally prefer to race in race cars, but we're open to suggestions. Always good to get some variety.

pulling my hair out as really want to play AC with new wheel / stand I got birthday but we are moving in 2 weeks so everything packed away....salt in wound is that my friend bought me the red pack for bday too :(

Well when all your hairs been pulled out, just paint a helmut on your dome, saving weight, more streamlined=more speed.:p

Going to have a further setup sessions with Assetto to tweak ffb etc.

Before I dive headlong into a deeper search, I sometimes have an issue with Assetto whereby I select car/track, the game goes to load, then bums out back to car/track selection screen without ever loading track. Known issue, any quick changes to try? I did try lowering video settings without success. Hardware spec in sig.

That usually happens when the resolution is incorrect. Are you using DSR and/or multiple/different monitors? If so, you may find the game res resets to something low when you switch back and forth etc.

You shouldn't have to lower anything with your rig.

Trying to use CV1 (understand it's still in beta). Will repeat with rendering to PG348Q monitor, but would dearly love to use the rift as AC is far superior VR implementation over iRacing.

Is this with car mods/tracks by any chance? I get this with the 2015 williams and mercedes F1 cars, never solved it (didnt really try either to be fair but it never worked for me, everything else mods wise is flawless).

Managed to get the game up and running. Thought I'd share experience in case it's useful to others.

Initially, no matter what combination of resolution/AA/output device (monitor or rift) I set, I just could not get AC to complete loading of track - it always (very quickly) returned backed to car/track menu.

[email protected], GPU at 2100 (+200)/5500 (+500) (gpu clock/mem clock).

Started by resetting gpu/mem clock offsets to 0, then incrementally increasing gpu clock and loading track, until back to offset +200.

Leaving gpu at +200, increased mem clock by +100 increments and reloading game, going to track.

During all these tests I rendered to monitor. Changing output to rift, loaded track all OK.

So I dont know the exact root cause, perhaps it just took that one successful render to sort itself (very scientific!). I'll leave GPU oc as it is, any further issues I can scale back.

Now for more fun testing of AC

Yes, definitely!
Sorry, been busy with stuff...

Did you guys have anything in mind, or would you like us to come up with the combo(s)?

We're a little off our best at the moment, due to the guy that usually does the servers having just moved house and being messed around by his ISP in regards to them installing his lines...
I'll see what I can do, as we have a couple of backup options if necessary.

We use Teamspeak.

Hey Uncle Petey,

Had a look on the stopdropgaming forum for AC, seems very well organised and a useful resource. Definitely want to participate in some online AC to get a feel for it, but I need to spend a little time upfront dialling in the ffb, buttkicker profile, learning all about the apps you can plug into AC etc. I certainly am not ready to join an endurance race, with too many distractions, and wreck the race for someone who's put many hours of practice in, that would be shameful.

I'm think that perhaps to entice some of the iRacing boys in we could do something in the iracing "week 13" where there are no official races for the series we run. I believe week 13 starts 6th September.

Really appreciate you already stepping up to guide and offer a taster session, going to be working on setup this weekend and have a snoop around all the various AC online resources.

Have a great endurance race this evening!

Yeah, best to get yourself set up and comfortable with it first :)
We'll get something on the go when you're ready.

I'll need lots of luck tonight, as I haven't had time to practice :D

Have my own hosted server for AC, usually on most nights.

Tonight might be either fixed setup MX5 cup @ vallelunga or GT2/3 somewhere like Mugello, knowing me i'll decide at the last minute. :D

Just search for "Old Git". :P

Yes a well manged forum easy to get round l joined about month ago after familiarising myself with AC.

Have maintained my race record being last in two race events lol.

But very enjoyable it does make a difference racing with good set of lads.

Still got a lot to learn about GT3 and F1 car setup, etc.

I'm doing a one-off open event tonight if anyone's interested.
Bit of a late notice thing, but hey :)

Oval racing in the URD Formula Lights (oval version) @Mountain Peak oval track.
Server name: SDF
TeamSpeak Server: 151.80.230.238:10080
Time: 8pm GMT

Highly recommend you install Helicorsa and call position on teamspeak.

It's incredible fun! Dangerous and likely to end with crashes, sure, but it's amazing if you're halfway sensible.
I imagine this would be epic if you use VR.

Picture drafting at close to 200mph in an open wheeler with constant position swapping.

I'd show you a replay of some of the fantastic battling from last night, but the session changed before I got a chance to save it :(

Anyway, hope to see some new faces tonight :) Don't worry, this isn't a super serious event. Just good fun.
