Assetto Corsa

I'm doing a one-off open event tonight if anyone's interested.
Bit of a late notice thing, but hey :)

Oval racing in the URD Formula Lights (oval version) @Mountain Peak oval track.
Server name: SDF
TeamSpeak Server: 151.80.230.238:10080
Time: 8pm GMT

Highly recommend you install Helicorsa and call position on teamspeak.

It's incredible fun! Dangerous and likely to end with crashes, sure, but it's amazing if you're halfway sensible.
I imagine this would be epic if you use VR.

Picture drafting at close to 200mph in an open wheeler with constant position swapping.

I'd show you a replay of some of the fantastic battling from last night, but the session changed before I got a chance to save it :(

Anyway, hope to see some new faces tonight :) Don't worry, this isn't a super serious event. Just good fun.

Great fun last night trying this oval racing out, count me in.:D

Some pics of the upcoming "triple pack" - Ferrari 488, Ferrari FXX and Praga...
AC has spoilt me rotten, I'm not even particularly excited about this:o Will still buy though, just for the 488.:)

What's chromatic aberration - purple fringing? I remember it from reading up on photography, eg when shooting tree branches against bright sky. But I dont see any here...

I like driving sims - but is it worth it with just a 360 controller ?

I've no intention of getting a wheel in future - desktop cluttered enough with a joystick and throttle control etc etc

Yep, that is the same effect I was talking about above. I dont see it in the ingame pic of the 3 cars though:confused: They aren't set against bright background for a start...

I keep mine under the desk ;) Takes 5 seconds to put on the desk and tighten it up.
AC is fun even with a joypad, plus you could always upgrade to a wheel just to try it out - I'd say go for it. Although you could also start with Forza 6 Apex, that thing was designed with joypad in mind. The physics aren't as good obviously (eg during replays as well as driving), but its free :)

wow this does look really rough IMO

That is PS4 footage, the fps drops and very visible screen tearing is horrendous. Be glad chaps that you get to enjoy this great game with performance you can tailor and avoid this. I am really shocked, I had this on pre order for PS4 months ago, but I then cancelled it as I finally robbed my savings for a decent gaming rig.. Seems money was spent in the right area if I want to play ACR.

I have tried to really enjoy this game, love racing games and play PCARS a lot, but no matter what I did to setup my wheel, a fanatec CSR, I always struggled even at 83% Ai difficulty. I would always understeer or be so slow out of corners and I have finally found a solution.

My wheel wouldn't connect this morning so searched and found some posts suggesting PS3 mode, where it emulates a Logitech G25, so removed the fanatec drivers setup the wheel in PS3 mode, installed the logitech drivers and oh my god I was actually competitive. I used the same cars and track etc for before and after and it's like night and day.

Good to hear you found a solution :)

I've been eyeing up a G29 wheel for so long and now it's available at £133 without shifter on payday :o Problem is my table is a cheapo Ikea wobbler so it's really hard to justify.

Love the game though and Brands is my hotlapping track of choice. Anyone fancy posting some times so I've got a benchmark to compare with?

Thanks, I use one of these, really easy to just fold up and put away as well

Yeah a mate had one of those a few years back, cool stands but just another cost @ £100 when I'm already tight as a gnats chuff :p

My mate got it on Xbox and is chuffed to bits with the whole driving experience, here's his footage. Also says its smooth and graphics are good apart from the shadows.

Obviously PC master race have it better with apps, mods and higher gfx settings, but the core experience is there it seems.

That isn't actually the case, its hardly smooth, the AC facebook page is full of complaints about fps issues and even the developers have advised they know about this and its being looked into.

Sadly, some really do not notice fps or screen tearing issues, its fine. Some just do not notice it, and are not sensitive to it. Its something I've banged on about before many times, I do notice frame drop outs and screen tearing. Whereas some don't..

Still that video doesn't look too bad IMO, not as bad as the PS4 video I posted.

I find it a bit strange when developers say they know about the FPS issues and are looking into it, when designing it to work on a specified hardware config, but at least it will be fixed.
