Assetto Corsa

Oh, so no paddles then?

TC/ABS/STM to factory settings and then adjusting to suit on track is the way to go :) Assuming you have a button or two to spare or don't mind using keyboard shortcuts.

Looking at getting a wheel with a H shifter down the line, don't really play racing games much - only grabbed AC as it has a decent implementation of Nordschleife and a couple of recent threads had me wondering how badly I'd do in something fast.

Have those on factory but haven't looked into adjustments.

Hi guys. I have this game and I am currently using my wired xbox360 controller, I am saving for a wheel. I have googled, youtubed and read lots about configurating this controller but I cannot for the life of me get it right. It is always twitchy no matter how much I move the thumb stick. I can't control the car or any car actually.

like I said I have changed all settings and done loads of setups I have seen on you tube and various forums etc.

Can anyone shed any more light on this and help me out? If you need more info please just ask

This any use? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T-Hl9qs-t8

If those settings don't work try sticking sensitivity to 50% then in advanced gamma 1.82, speed 20%, filter 1.0 - unfortunately don't have a 360 controller to hand to test but those settings work well (as far as it goes) for me.

What realism settings/profile are you using for racing? with stability and TC dialled down the physics are quite punishing - probably beyond what is playable on a pad.

I have just recorded a quick few seconds of me in the GTR on Silverstone. I am literally 'just touching' the thumb sticks. I will post link once it's uploaded. I used the settings on that video you posted above mine.

Which GTR? the plain Nismo is twitchy at speed while the GT3 is reasonably stable. GT3 is closer in the feel of the handling to the regular GTR I've driven IRL which was pretty chuckable in the corners and didn't punish you.

The basic GTR iirc. you'll see in the video. I have used the Arbarth you get in the career mode, BMW e30 (oldish looking one) and a few others and they all are very twitchy on various settings, either I cannot steer or look at controller and it spins out.lol

Edit: I am begginign to think I have a naff pad. I got it second hand but it works fine on GTA5

Requoting this, maybe will help. There's not gonna be any ideal way to play with a gamepad, though. This isn't Gran Turismo.

My controller settings(for X360 pad):

Main Controls

Speed sensitivity - 90%
Gear Up - B
Gear Down - X

Then Advanced Controls

I feel this works pretty good. Still need to be smooth in many cases, but I also find I dont have to be ultra careful and can whack at the left stick at times.

Quick vid of me using this just to demonstrate that you dont necessarily need to be super smooth at all times to drive well enough. Note that this lap isn't anything special, but that's because I did this real quick and hadn't found best braking and turn-in points and whatnot.

Finding the complete opposite with the Abarth - first time I've tried it - getting hilarious understeer and having to kick the back out even with all assists off to get around some of the corners on silverstone at anything approaching speed.

I'm fairly new to the game but I think the surface on silverstone is optimised for the F1 type cars - completely different handling with road cars compared to the road tracks I was playing before.
