Assetto Corsa

Let's just say i'm hooked!

That old Lotus is such a handful, while the 599XX seems to lack the sense of speed I was expecting, but is bloody quick!

I'm hooked too. I'm using a 360 controller but may invest in a wheel now...

I've found that the best way to learn a track is to start in the Abarth, move onto a BMW M3 E30, and then the Pagani Zonda.

If you want a sense of speed (as well as danger!) try driving the 1960's Monza track in the Zonda. Minimal crash barriers and trees next to the track!

What are your settings for the xbox controller?

I'm actually using a 'MadCatz GamePad' which I think is an officially sanctioned clone.

The settings I'm using are:

Steering Speed - 30%
Gamma - 3.8
Filter - 0.7
Speed Sensitivity - 0.1
Dead Zone 0.3
Rumble Effects 10%

I also swapped the gear shift keys over between X and A as it felt more natural.

But I'm no expert in driving games or using a gamepad. I'm not even sure what 'Gamma' and 'Filter' actually do.

Like you I'm still searching for the best settings, but I'm just getting a feel for the game before I start fiddling around with the controls.

I've also switched the gear change up/down :p I googled and found these settings..They seem ok to me, not perfect but much better than i was getting in the first place

gamma: 2.5
Filter: 0.75
Speed sensitivity: 0.15
Deadzone: 0.2

Cheers Borsch! wasn't even aware they had a site tbh. Should I save for the G27 or keep the Drift OZ? G27 seems a LOT smoother to turn etc, plus the additional clutch pedal.

Really fancy getting myself a new wheel when this is closer to completion.

Just put in a 1.49:1 around Mugello in the Formula Abarth. Holding onto your momentum is key around there!

I can definitely go quicker..

G27 is expensive, the best value for money is DFGT/DFP- not sure how they compare to your Speedlink wheel. But G27 is still not fast enough for drifting, need T500rs for that really. I'm making do with a DFP- its hard to drift , but just about possible :)

Oh dear, this is going to cost me a fortune. My G25 shifter is playing up so I've just pre-ordered the Fanatec ClubSport Sequential/Gated shifter.

You won't regret it, it's a fantastic piece of kit! (as it should be for 199 Euro!) :o

Going through the H box is very satisfying. Sequential is a little strong/tough for me but still equally satisfying gear change.

So how is everyone getting on with the special events? I was pretty proud of myself to get the F40 one. Some of them are pretty straight forward and other ones are literally impossible. How anyone can get close to the Monza one with the BMW is beyond me. I'm sure they must have made a mistake with the times.
