Assetto Corsa

I'd wager that most of the negativity was from people who haven't been around the simracing community for long and just want everything for free.

hardly free when an Alpha is charging full retail. the track and car list isn't huge, not to mention no AI, no career or online.

I don't think complaints are unwarranted. I've been playing racing games since the likes of Pole Position etc... So you can park your sarcasm elsewhere. Sorry but maybe you haven't playing games for long, but so many companies promise the moon and never deliver. Furthermore this is a small company that could close shop before they even get to the finish line

Even if it looks promising so far there is a long way to go. So I'll wait and see to reserve judgement when the game is closer to complete.

It's not sarcasm actually and I have no idea what leads you believe it is - I don't think you even know the meaning the word. It's observed behavior. If you had a look on the Steam forums, people are expecting the new DLC for free, even though they haven't paid for it.

Actually, I'm possibly quite a bit older than you and have been playing games for a hell of a long time. Started programming on a ZX81 - not that that means anything.

There's no need to be patronising and condescending.

Having a blast with this game. Everything feels perfect but I cannot get manual transmission, it seems to be stuck on semi auto.

You have to change clutch to manual.

If you are using a manual shifter then you have to select using a separate shifter and map each gear.

Been following this thread, and after coming from the Forza series, I do like the game, but it seems odd that they charge so much for a game far from completion. It just feels like a demo from what Im reading here.

I hear you, but to be fair you are buying an incomplete game for early access and you will not be charged any more for new builds which adds more and more every fortnight and you'll also get your first dlc after the games been completed at no extra charge, You have paid for the full game and it will be given to you without paying another single penny. I quite like the idea, it's exciting to see what we going to get new every fortnight.

A great tip from other forums how to increase responsiveness/ decrease input delay

The directory to get to the dx11.ini is /steamapps/common/assettocorsa/system/cfg/dx11.ini

Change MAXIMUM_FRAME_LATENCY=1. In game, attempt to play with VSync off. If you play on your TV, check the manual and see if you can enable a "game mode" that reduces post processing and reduces visual delay.

The game feels so much more responsive and better because of this.

buying the early access gives you free updates and a reduced price of full game at release. however, according to the Blog on the AC site http://www.assettocorsa.net/dev-blog-en/, it seems that the Dream Pack DLC will be an additional charge (this includes Nordschleife track and 10 Cars planned for Sept 2014). Although you can buy the 1 month pre-order the DLC for 50% off release price which is TBA

Thanks for that.

I'm not doing too bad on the few tracks I've tried, but I've only been messing in the McLaren and F40.

I'm in the top 15 if that's any good.

That sound like you've got some serious talent. Not sure how many times are recorded for that particular track / car combination but there are a lot of fairly serious racers on the boards. Looks like I'll be asking for some tips!

Buying early access gets you the full game for free.

From their FAQ:

The price of Assetto Corsa for Steam Early Access is 34,99* Eur and includes the early access version, all its updates, plus the final version of the game, without any extra charge.

agreed. this is what I was trying to say, obviously not very clearly :o. my point was that you get the full game at a discounted price; however it does not include the DLC Dream Pack. hope that makes sense

Ah, that's good then.

Tempted to get a wheel. Though last time I had one it didn't get huge amounts of use.

Gotcha... had to re-read it a couple of times but can see what you meant.

It is a comparatively high price for what you get now as far as 'pure' content is concerned, but in all honesty this game has seen more of my free time than anything else I've got and bought recently (steam sales..that's you!)

If they get the multi-player right it will transform the game and become more than the sum of its parts. I've bought into it as much for how the game could be as well as how the game stands now.

Gah, annoyed I didn't just go for it when it was on the daily deal (got too excited about pre-ordering Revengeance) hope it makes it's return in a flash sale or end of sale thing...

Buying beta/early access doesnt include the "Dream Pack" DLC with the Nurb Ring, but it does include the 1st DLC with SPA Frankerchamps track for free (+ some cars?). Once the game is released this DLC will be payware.

I didn't think my times were that bad, but they're still a couple of seconds off 1st place. The only thing I've done to the cars is change the tyres, so maybe a bit of fine tuning to the setups will make a difference.

Same here :( they normally have a recap of the offers but it's 2 weeks worth of deals this time..

I stand corrected, now where did I get the thought of free dlc?
