Assetto Corsa

Damper is at 0% in both logitech profile and in game

My settings are as I posted in a few posts back (below):

Currently have:

Logitech global profile:

Overall effect: 100%
Spring effect: 0%
Damper effect: 0%
Enable Centering spring (Unticked)
Centering spring strength: 0%
Combined pedals (Unticked)
Degrees of rotation: 900
Allow game to adjust settings (Ticked)

In game:

Gain: 70%
Filter: 0%
Damping: 0%
Kerb: 50%
Road: 40%
Slip: 15%

That's weird then, you shouldn't have to fight the wheel. I've posted the settings the devs recommend, you've probably seen them before though. The Logitech profiler works differently to the T500 iirc, as you have a Global setting and then a Game Specific setting whos values is a percentage of Global.

LOGITECH G27 (should work for G25 too)

Additionally this will help understand what the settings do. Email from Thrustmaster, but it's universal for FFB wheels.

Please find below a detailed explanation for the FFB settings:

CONSTANT:
A constant force will keep the same level in time. When a game decides to apply a force of x% of what the wheel can do, the "Constant" will keep that force at the same level.
Example: A driving simulator game will usually use the constant force to simulate the G-Force. It will create a constant force at 0% but, depending on the speed and the wheel angle, the force will be increased accordingly.

PERIODIC:
A periodic force will vary in time according to the type of periodic effect, amplitude and frequency. Because a periodic force includes an offset that has the same behavior as a constant force, some games will create a periodic force and merge an effect they would render for a constant force (like the G-Force) and a periodic effect (bumping road).
Example: A periodic effect gives the shaking effect on the wheel. At high frequency, you will feel it rumble... but in some cases very low frequency are used to create crash effects where the wheel first turns fully to the left, then to the right and then to the left again, before stopping. Of course, that depends on what the game developers decide.

SPRING:
A spring force is a force that increases according to how far you are from a specific position on the wheel. The basic spring force we could think of is a default spring center where the wheel goes back to its center position when you release it. But the force can be set to negative, which will make the wheel go further away from the center position.
Example: Basic spring force where the wheel goes back to its center position.

DAMPER:
A damper force controls how the wheel will react when it's moving. It is usually used as a (dynamic) friction or if you use it while the wheel gets back to its center position (spring effect), then it will behave like controlling the damping on a spring-mass system. A game will usually use the damper force in order to make it harder for the player to turn the wheel while in other circumstance make it feel like if it's very smooth and easy.
Example: Controlling the force you need to apply on the wheel to rotate it.

The SPRING and DAMPER effects are what we call Dynamic Effects, because they rely on information which depends on the wheel (position for spring or speed for damper). The Dynamic Effects are those effects which benefit the most from hardware force-feedback implementation (compare to software) - like in the T500RS - because you want a fast response based on how the player will turn his wheel.

The CONSTANT and PERIODIC effects are what we call Static Effects. Once the game sets them, they act according to the parameters set or modified through time by the game regardless of how the user turns the wheel. The game might adjust them accordingly, but they are not linked directly to the wheel position, speed or acceleration.

I'll give them a shot later when I get back, the other thing I've read is that USB3 sometimes doesn't play nice so will try that as well. Will let you know how I get on just in case others have similar issues.

Edit:

It seems the high resistance has resolved itself since I booted today (must have been a driver issue). Anyway finally settled on the best settings for my G27:

107% seems to get rid of the deadzone mostly, 60% gain also provides great FFB without clipping, overall very happy with the setup now.

I picked this up onsale on Steam. I'm liking it a lot. The physics model feels quite good and granular (for the FWD hatch anyway, no idea how good it is for the Ferraris) and I like the rumble pack steering feedback.

that does look really nice and im glad there actually adding some graphics improvements instead of just fixing bugs and adding cars.
The lighting and clouds was the one thing that looked poor especially when you consider the amount of effort and detail and realism they put into the models.
One thing im wondering though is that will you notice the new lighting much with HDR disabled or do you have to turn it on?
HDR still doesn't work in crossfire for me as you get the crazy flickering.

ahh he blended two videos to achieve that :p

I thought he was playing with the wheel coming out from the screen as someone on AVF has his cockpit setup exactly like that using a projector.

That set up does look very cool! Blending videos is cheaper though :)

Some new picuters of the Ferrari:

Btw,speaking of that Ferrari, has anyone NOT seen movie Rush that came out last autumn? Its a great film imho, "Narcissus and Goldmund" in real life.

Time for me to get a wheel I think. Been using the DS4 and while its better than keyboard and mouse it just doesn't feel as fun as it could be with a proper wheel.

Would the G27 be the best one to go for right now? Is there a new G model on the way anytime soon?

G27 is plenty good enough for anything (ie racing road/formula/drifting) and is best value for money to boot. Not heard about any new Logitech wheel coming out, new Thrustmaster TX is out but it has no clutch or shifter bundled in. The big question with G27 is can you afford 400 notes? If yes- t500+shifter is a better set with faster FF (nearly as quick, Fantatec Elite is about that price too), but @ 200-250 for everything, g27 is king. Best warranty too - 3 years.
