Assetto Corsa

Time for me to get a wheel I think. Been using the DS4 and while its better than keyboard and mouse it just doesn't feel as fun as it could be with a proper wheel.

Would the G27 be the best one to go for right now? Is there a new G model on the way anytime soon?

Second Hand as good as new G27 like the man above said will give you the best bang per buck money can buy. I haven't used any of the other wheels mentioned. But for a starter wheeler you can't go wrong. I own two G25 myself, purchased the one in 2007 which my mate is using to this day.

*Its took quite a beating over the years shows a few marks and the Force feed back isn't quite as good as it once was* pedals stick a tad bit and need taking apart every few years to be cleaned out.

I payed around £140-£160 for it off here. Could ebay it today and still get at least £50-60 for it. As everything can be repaired dead easy on them. If the pots go on the pedals its a very cheap fix.
Keep your eye on the members mart, Fleabay*The odd good one comes up* If you have access to I-racing. Theres almost one being sold on there forums every week.

The T500 and the higher end fanatec wheels are better, but as a starter wheel you really cant go wrong. If you decide you like sim racing and enjoy the wheel and get a lot of use out of it go ahead get one of the better wheels. Bang the G27 on ebay and you sell it for not far off what your pay for a good condition second hand one today. I saw one on the I-racing forums the other day for £150.

Overall the forcefeed back could be stonger and delivered smoother. But its fine, Your not going to loose any speed from it. The package itself nothing comes close for price. The Pedals for the price are awesome, a few cheap mods and you have your self and very very good setup.

I love mine apart from rubbing it over with a duster and taking a can of electrical cleaner to the pedals once every few years, They just work.... I'd buy another one tomorrow if this one broke.

O and the one I have sat next to me, came as good as new still in a brand new box and the wheel still had half the plastic on. Smelt Brand new. pedals looked like they had been used no more than a hand full of times. Got it in the MM some one was selling it for £40 Deal of the year.

I'm now in the low 1:30's on Monza 1966, so that's 1 second of my previous best record. I have no idea how others are carrying so much speed into corners as when I attempt it I just oversteer and lose the car.

I guess now I need to learn how to setup a car properly including tyre pressures etc so I can better my lap time.

However, I am improving and am consistent.

Tomorrow should be good :) Lauda's ferrari (F1 with an H-shifter and clutch?) and maybe Senna's Lotus ?

In something like the DTM E30 or the new lauda Ferrari do you need to use the clutch on up shifts? I don't have a clutched set of pedals yet so use auto clutch which clutches on every shift which is quite slow.

On cars with dog boxes you should be able to shift up with a lift of the throttle, I'm not sure how the game models is but in a real car you just put pressure on the gear stick and when you take the engine load off the gearbox the stick will move into the next gear at which point back on the power, infact the cars I have driven with dog or sequential boxes only need a slight lift of power to change.

Crashing?

:p

 hopefully not! Hoping the car doesn't have *too* much downforce like the newer cars, should be good considering the era. Wonder what engine tune it will have, I know the lotus they're planing on adding is going to include the qualifying spec. That'll be brutal!

cant really notice the change in the new lighting....do you need HDR on to see it? I cant run HDR with crossfire so its always off plus it looks pants lol.

Wouldn't mind another Lotus as much if it was an Esprit, 7 or anything that isn't just another variation of the current crop of Lotus!

How's the Ferrari? Not yet fired it up here :)

The Ferrari is as much fun as I'd hoped. Can get a bit of a slide on if you push it too hard and you have to blip a lot on a downshift otherwise it bites. Hard.

What car are you using? I could do with an excuse to do some more laps on that track

The mp4 gt3

No one got a bit of a time trial between OcUKers set up yet? Come on guys ;)

I asked the creator of Rivali to create a group for us on his official app. Since we have over 1000 members on the OCUK Steam group he had to do something or another, but it's definitely coming.

I'm afraid the best I can offer up after 8 laps is a 1:33

But I'm happy with that for now, first time ever in that car and immediately added extra rear downforce to control the tail... it felt very much fine then gone, not much warning, so the extra downforce gave me some learning stability.

I do have to admit, I'm driving rather splendidly under the influence too, with all assists off and pro of course ;)

Will try more soon. :) Though I do have tbh my heart is with the open wheelers on Monza 66... they just feel so free man!
