Assetto Corsa

Great news, That my Xmas present sorted then to myself.

Once someones grabbed it whack us a review up. Specially if your an Iracer. Would love to know what the fellow iracers think.

The f1 2013, grid and dirt racers, not so much :D

Ive sorted my controls now was me being thick.

Managed to run a few laps at Monza in the Lotus 49 best so far 1.30.8 and first impressions are I like it a lot.

The gfx are very good and modern leaves iracing looking like the tarted up GPL it is.Driving its got more weight and grip to the car which seems more like I image the car to feel not the driving on ice feeling Iracing has.

off to do some more laps see if I can get near the 26 I used to run in GPL lol.

It feels very good, using CSP V2's and a GT3 RS V2. Probably did the same as Johny Dolan though, by not inverting accelerator/brake/clutch though, was a bit confusing at first :P

I've never played iRacing, so I can't comment on that aspect, but compared to pCars the game feels better straight away, the cars are relatively predicatable which is what you want. Looks great as well. Overall, I think this is a worthwhile purchase :)

Staying above 100 fps at Monza in the lotus 49 with one card 99% but the second 780 is only 52% so sli works but not great.

Having lots of fun driving the lotus and prefer it to the Iracing version with best so far 1.29.9 so just cracked the 1.30 but cant get near my GPL 26 times.

The gfx are very nice much better than Iracings imo but will need good pc to run this game.

Anybody had any luck turning the penalty system off by the following method

From a dev:
"Documents/AssettoCorsa/cfg/race.ini
open with notepad or similar
Find line
ALLOWED_TYRES_OUT=

set to whatever number you want or -1 to have no penalty when going off track"

I changed it to -1 but its still happening :)

First impressions seems pretty good, it's been great fun running all the cars around Imola really missed that track. Personally don't think the graphics are any better then Iracing nor will it be an Iracing replacement any time soon but I can say this Pcars who? Actually even Rfactor2 has a serious competitor in the handling stakes.

I haven't tried yet but make sure your saving it as an ini file and not txt.
You need to have hide extensions for known file types un ticked in folder options.

I've bought after reading lots of positive reviews. I've been driving online since Toca Racer Driver 2 and have my wheels and pedals ready to try this.

I'm a junior member of pCars but can't seem to enjoy that yet. I also have Live for Speed, rFactor 1 and 2 and Richard Burns Rally which are all great.

My favourite car is definitely the Exige. Very 'chuckable' even in my amateur hands. Some folk are saying there's too much grip on some cars, but who knows for certain. All that matters is whether virtual cars are fun to drive with our pretty primitive feedback devices, and I've had five hours of great fun this weekend. That's more time than I've logged in a sim for weeks (all put together), and while some of that will be pure novelty value & crowd following, AC definitely treads a nice line -- for me -- between the kind of raw, unforgiving realism trademarked by iRacing, and the suspiciously forgiving aspects of pCARS.

Obviously it's disappointing that there are only five tracks so far, and no AI at all... not even some rubbish ones, like LFS. But at least there's ghost racing, and I'm not fussed about multiplayer being absent; we have iRacing for that, and after five years I think I'm over online anyway. I found out I was rubbish ages ago, and I'm still rubbish. :-)

I think rF2 may struggle in the face of competition from AC. However I can't see me ever getting tired of their nippy little Cleo; so far I enjoy lapping that more than AC's Abarth.

Anyway, it's hard to believe how much choice we have now. It'd be nice if one of these projects was 'finished', or as close to finished as sims ever get these days. But beta is better than nothing!

Only driven the M3 GT2 at Imola, I like it. You can really feel the connection between the tyres and the road and this particular car was just begging to pushed harder and harder :D Graphics are OK, but I didn't think anything particularly special.

For anyone who hasn't make sure you switch on the developer apps through the Assetto_Corsa.ini file Lots of useful things in their including the ability to setup triple screens properly. Set everything to max and was averaging 46FPS (5760X1080 each screen rendered separately, [email protected], 2x GTX780). Game had no trouble maxing out both my GPU's, Precision-X was showing them maxed at 99% each.

F40 can't get here soon enough.

im not to sold on iracings car handling, or atleast from when i played regularly. be rare to get a gripped up feeling in some cars.
cars are probably more like ac and gsc behaviour, ie not terrible and trying to kill you

I 'm a huge fan of Live for Speed andl really like the 1960s of Rfactor2, couldn't miss Assetto Corsa with all the hype about its physics (+decent gfx which Rf2 has skimped on)

First impression are very good, certainly on a different level to pCars, but some little nuances of LFS physics seem to be missing for now (not to say that physics overall are inferior- probably not), for one suspensions seem to be overdampened - just try emergency stop with Abrath for example, there is no recoil when the car stops fully.

Nice vid of eye candy and physics in AC:

I've got the tech preview and it's very good, but that video really sells it. I can see me being unable to resist much longer.
