This might make the wait a little more "comfortable".......

I've used that before but I'm not wanting to interfere with the drive anymore till the firmware is released.
All it does is re-write the data. It's not an perfect solution, but it restores performance while we wait for the update.
I know. But if the "fix is only a few days away (hopefully) I'll just wait.
Is the degradation issue only with the 840? Or is the 850 likely affected too? I just bought a 250gb 850 Evo...
I bought my EVO 840 500gb a few weeks ago knowing about the problem, but for the bargain price in a sale for £130 (new) I could not resist.
I use it as a media drive and is about 70% full, with 50gb over provisioning set. It came with the current firmware installed, and I have been testing its read speed across the drive daily using the "hand built" test available on the internet, (SSDreadspeedtest), and after 2 weeks it has maintained 540 MB/s.
I appreciate this is still early days, but it does look better than some examples I have seen, so fingers crossed.![]()
It will be interesting to see what Samsung come up with? They said March for the latest fix. I will use Crucial drives from now on
Any updates from Samsung, yet?
I know this "fix" is coming soon. But here's my latest results.
hows the PC running on the ssd? do you notice the slow downs a lot?

I've had worse benchmarks, and I didn't notice the slowdowns much. Yes, there was a slight reduction in actual performance, but nowhere near as bad as the benchmarks suggested.
Having said that, we paid for the performance Samsung claimed. They should provide it.
