right my friend is on verge of ordering one of these asus 4870x2 but will his psu be ok?
on to the power front it seems fine 720w model is
Hiper Power Type M 780W
but what about 12v rails willthey be ok?
i no they seem pretty decent but just making sure before he buys he ready now

Is the 4870x2 a better card than a gtx 280. ?

A single 4870x2 will draw about 400w at full load, so that plus the rest of your system and then another 4870x2 would end in horrible firey death I would imagine
The 4870x2 will eat a single GTX 280 alive and still have room for one of its baby brothers

Will this card fir into an Antec P160 case? Im currently using an X1950Xt and need an upgrade and was looking at this card.
Also, with the 7.1 sound on it could I get rid of my sound card (old SBLIVE) and use this? I will be connecting through HDMI on a 1080p monitor

You probably can't answer but is the deal on because Asus want to clear their stock before 4890x2's?
So have the first wave been sent out already?, my order from a week on Thursday is still showing as "in our warehouse queue" order number OC812303
If this is the case I'll be a bit miffed as I'd have thought I would have been one of the first to order the card and as mentioned earlier this is holding my new rig up from completion so I'm getting a bit anxious to get it up and running asap.

More than likely due to the price cuts on the 4850 and 4870's

ATi no longer manufacture this part. No AIB likes old inventory about with new product due it was a very simple deal they asked me If I would be able to take the lot and I told them how much I wanted to pay.
