ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2

Can anyone let me know if gestures work on the trackpad, I.E two finger scrolling?

I can confirm two finger scrolling works on the trackpad, though it's fantastic as a touchscreen laptop and I imagine you'll spend most of your time flicking the screen rather than fiddling with the pseudo-mouse.

I've had a reasonable play with mine now and I have to say it's excellent. I got the Grey one and the purple is extremely subtle, looks mostly like a deep grey but with a bit of colour to make it interesting. It's very small but weighty, so it feels extremely solid. It took about five hours to fully charge the dock and tablet combination, whilst using it heavily, so charge times are pretty reasonable. Battery life seems on par with what they suggest it should be though further testing will be needed.

I have no wifi problems, haven't had a chance to try the GPS yet so will let you know later on how I find it. ICS update was quick and easy and everything runs extremely smoothly, the multitasking control is excellent with the simple flick off the screen to close system, and the screen is very bright and vibrant.

If I had to pick a complaint, predictably it's a huge fingerprint magnet, and I'll probably be adding GPS to that later. So far though very pleased! :)

With regard to the GPS and Wifi issues; why don't Asus start shipping the prime with the back panel of the updated TF700? I'd imagine it'd solve a lot of their problems and I probably would've bought one. I'm not interested in paying significantly more for a higher resolution (which would lead to poorer battery life, I presume) and better wifi/gps.

The back panel might not even be half the problem now. The Pogopins used to make contact with the Wi-Fi and GPS may be making bad contact or no contact at all which explains the wide array of variances between units, surely if it was just the back plate near enough everyone would have the same Wi-Fi/GPS performance. Multiple people have stated that queezing the top of the bezel near the contact points increases their performance greatly.

I searched around for the Pogopin issue. With this, along with the aluminium back, I think I'll wait and see what Samsung and the others announce over the next few months. Hopefully good will come out of the mobile world congress at the end of Feb.

Anyone kind enough to take a photo of the prime being charged. Need to see the whole tablet with the charger plugged in.

what is there to know? both tab and dock have the 40pin connection:

Thanks. I want to have 2 primes on my desk in front of me. Need to be on stands and charging so the screens are permanantly on. There is no official charging dock sans keyboard so having to look at other stand alternatives.

I have just gone ahead and ordered my Champagne Prime from from the Rainforest for evening delivery!!...will use the dissatisfied GPS excuse if I don't get on with it.

EXCITED! :D:D:D:p

Got a Prime yesterday. At first I was like this is jerky and slow after putting ICS on. Then I realised it was downloading about 20 apps in the background. Once that was done its been very smooth. I have checked my wifi with speedtest and that is running fine. I have had a few web pages take a while to load though.

Very nice tablet and feels better than the iPad 2 my missus has.

Spit - Which colour did you get - also hows your wifi range - mine drops off quite severely with distance compared to my HP Touchpad. GPS indoors is non existant.

Other than that the Prime is awesome - the look/design/build quality is great.

Couple of questions about the Prime:

*Does anywhere have stock? [I heard the automobile telephone hanger was a good place to order but they seem to be out]
*Do the latest Prime's come with ICS pre-installed?

Thanks,

aaazza

I've decided that the Prime is going back - Wifi range is too shoddy - drops right off the cliff where the HP Touchpad is still strong.

While the screen is great it has a bit of light bleeding - also there's 1 dodgy key on the hardware keyboard that's not sitting right and needs a hard press for it to work.

Asus have really got the build and design of this thing soo perfect. If it had a bright AMOLED screen, proper Wifi connection and stereo speakers I'd have kept it.

I'll give it back sometime next week as I'm still playing about with it.

Yes, I still think there's a few bugs to be ironed out on ICS and even drivers for Tegra 3.

Not much available RAM either - I'm thinking 2GB is the way forward. Tegra 3 with its single bus ram may be an issue too.
