hmmm...
The asus is a good monitor but the ghosting can be a bit irritating but please remember that you can only notice it on darker images, the worst game I have played with it showing is Rainbow Six Vegas, but that game has a massive blur effect all over it so I guess it just makes it a wee bit worse. I haven't tried Quake 4.
The colours take some setting up but it's best to do it via the drivers as the OSD doesn't seem to get them quite right.
Hardly notice the ghosting in games like World of Warcraft, Call of Duty 2,Battlefield 2 or 2142, Never seen it in Company of Heroes or TOCA3
Never tried the speakers, nor would I
Build quality is good although my cables were too thick for the clips at the back which rendered them useless.
But what you need to remember is that this is a 22" monitor for under £300 which puts it firmly in the budget category. I have never once noticed ghosting on DVD's or video, the screen is massive too (especially after an upgrade form a 17").
So my advice would be this, if you can't afford a Dell 24" and absolutely have to go for a 22" LCD screen then I would say the ASUS is an excellent monitor for the money. If you are after image quality in games then go for a 20" widescreen which produce a sharper image.
But for me I couldn't justify spending the money on a new monitor to go from 17" to 20" widescreen as the screen real estate increase wasn't worth the initial outlay. So 22" fit the gap nicely for me and after my initial quibbles about RMA's and ghosting I am overall happy with my monitor
I guess it;s just down to what you want to do with it
