Asus MW221U 22" Ghosting in games.

I've been playing Half Life 2 mod that is fairly dark in places and have noticed a small amout of the 'white' ghosting even with Overdrive switched off.

I hope Asus do have an updated firmware.. Otherwise this monitor may have to go back ;-(

I've powered off using the on-off button on the front panel and it seems to keep the Overdrive OFF option. (I.e it doesnt switch it back on)

I've not tested the other way but assume this also works ok as that was how it worked origionaly.

Was gonna order this monitor this week, having serious doubts now.
I need to run a pc and 360 on it ,what are the other options in the 22" range?

Just had a call from Asus who then sent me an email.

Collection Tomorrow.

I spoke to the guy and he did seem to think there WAS a fix for this problem.

Heres hoping - I'll let you guys know on the 10th.

In lab tests for 20" and 22" monitors the ASUS comes out on top for games which is why I wanted one, however it's not the best panel quality I have ever owned but it is the biggest. Having said that though it's still good and for under £300 the price is great the amount of screen you get is excellent for the price.

It can take a little setting up to get the colours just right and you may or may not have to fiddle around with the Overdrive to get it the way you want. But think about it this way...

This monitor has HDCP which enables you to play protected HD DVD or Blu-Ray content via Windows Vista, so therefore it's a cheap Vista compatable monitor :)

I was gonna get one of these next week, chose it over the other 22" models due to it having DVI, HDCP and looking good, I'm having doubts about now.

Have to monitor this thread and see what happens.

Will you always be sitting directly square on infront of your monitor when playing on your 360? If you have friends over scattered about in your room playing on it, it will be awkward with the naff viewing angles so surely a 20" with a S-IPS panel would better suit you? Just a thought..

Hi Haze,

Have you run the test AVI file? I hadnt noticed any ghosting until I ran this. Then I knew what I was looking for and noticed it quite a bit !
