Asus ROG X570 Crosshair Dark Hero Release? *** NO Competitor Talk ***

I wasn't overly keen on all the reports of random reboots

Random reboots, I had those when I first setup and they were because of 2 things default has PBO on with fmax enhancer and it wasn't getting enough voltage for the clocks they were trying to push so I disabled pbo fmax, the other was fixed by disabling c-states. Would randomly happen for me when opening programs, sometimes would have to close and reopen an app 20 times for it to happen.

There’s an app called Clock Tuner for Ryzen 2.0 which is supposed to be getting support for Ryzen 5000 and adding hybrid overclocking by the end of January.

This sounds very similar to what Asus are doing with the Dark Hero Uefi.

Yeah mentioned it earlier, its the usual software vs hardware level but not only that the current Clock Tuner can be a bit heavy on CPU Usage which can impact single core badly if its not able to boost your cpu further if you got a bad bin. Its said that the CPU usage is better in 2.0 but have to wait and see.

Always nicer to have things at a hardware level rather than software but means everyone can enjoy the feature and anyone with really good chips will really see a huge performance bump across the board.

I wasn’t aware that the software existed so this was interesting news to me. Do you use it yourself?

Personally no but will when this new version is released, used the dram calculator by the same creator which has been decent in giving an idea of initial timings.

Got one friend who used the older tool, it helped him with multithread and using less power but single core cores dropped because of the cpu usage of the tool.

When the new one releases going to use it to get an idea of what values to plug into the bios for the curve optimizer.

If my CPU arrives before the end of the year I’m going to try the Dark hero and another x570 board using the software.
Will be interesting.
I just took delivery of a dark hero today, but cant test it until ek release their founders blocks. The DOC was a main reason for choosing this board. I wonder if the software version will give the same results.

I’ve just sorted the return of mine. The CPU is held up by the border issues and couriers stopping services so by the time it arrives my Mobo will be out of the 30days refund period. Not going to chance it in the very unlikely case of it being doa. I’ll have to stick with what I have for now but I’m going to keep an eye on the Clock Tuner software and this board to see how they stack up for the future.

There’s irony in the fact that I need to return my board due to the shipping issues, but now I can’t return my board due to the shipping issues.

All depends on how fast its able to swap profiles vs the hardware solution and also how much CPU it takes up. Hardware is always nicer than software but it does make the premium vs other board less worth it when there is now a software solution.

I can’t get to it, it’s towards the back of the socket and the plastic cover makes it to awkward without risk of damaging other pins. All I can do is ask for a refund and wait for another to come into stock.

Yeah mine is bent too and haven't gotten around to fixing it yet, intend to do so tomorrow... spend a lot of time trying to install my usb 3 header but couldn't for obvious reasons... I thought I messed it up myself but if if it at least happened to 2 others then I guess a fair chance it might have come like that for me too and it wasn't me who bent it.

And now the hunt begins for a replacement. The 5950X is now just sitting on the side taunting me, really can’t be bothered to dismantle my current rig to install it, it’ll have to wait for when I get another DH.

Surely you should just have a go at straightening the pin. It was so easy to do on mine, 30 second job.
