ATI Catalyst™ version 10.5 thread

We-e-e-ell, looks like the Linux 10.5s still suck. Having said that, I'm pretty sure they haven't actually updated the Linux driver at all beyond changing its version number for the past Lord-knows-how-many revisions....

Updated my Win7 install to the 10.5s, and nothing seems to have broken. May be my imagination, but I'd swear that GTA IV was a little less 'glitchy' on my 5770 now.

Flash is GPU accelerated these days, this is why watching a you tube video ramps your clocks up

I know that but why is it taking the memory up and the core stays still?

Does this happen to anyone else with dual screen setups?

Yep, 400/900 are DXVA clocks, always have been. Idle clocks, when overclocking, are 400 on the core and whatever the chosen memory clock is.

Strangely, my idle clocks when not overclocking are correct on card #1 and 400/900 on card #2 except when gpuz is running and then card #2 clocks drop to the same as card #1!

It now automatically changes my idle clocks when a second monitor is turned on in display settings. No more flickering, but higher temps when using the 2nd screen.

157/300 1 monitor, as before. Same temps as before using Afterburner.

400/1000 as soon as 2nd is turned on. A lot higher idle temps. I dont know if there is a way to tweak these down to, say, 314/600.

_Edit time_
Didnt realise before that it was ignoring Afterburner overclock and running at stock.
I cant get it to run at anything other than stock and happily 2D down to 157/300 without it locking up in 3D.

It seems like they did very little again and just sat on the drivers a month until release day swung around, breaking BC2 after only just having fixed it is disappointing to say the least.

I installed this the other day and then spent all day ridding my computer of it.

Not only did it cause a BSOD then crashes every time I booted back into windows - but once I'd uninstalled Catalyst - I then had to roll back the latest driver to the previous one to stop stop my screens being headache inducingly blurred.

This is on win7-64 with an Asus 4850 and two iiyama VMP451 CRTs.

Idle temp has remained at 42-45 degrees though - beforehand it was 35-37. All back running smoothly though so I'm not that bothered about the temps at the moment.

I've also just rolled back to my previous drivers. I've had a lot of issues recently but the only ones for the last 6 days have happened today, after installing 10.5 last night.

As I said though, not sure if it was the drivers at fault or not yet. :p

Installed over the top & its completely messed my sysyem up. CCC crashes on boot so I tried to uninstall & they now won't remove. I've tried removing from safe mode, using driver sweeper & now have an old GTS 250 in there but it still won't remove the ATI drivers!

I'm lost at what to do apart from a format........

Thanks ATI.

I've had two crashes earlier today, rolled back 4 hours ago and no issues.

I was really hoping ATI had got over their garbage driver stage. On my next build think I'll be going back to NVidia. :(

think i will stick with the 10.4s personally, dont like the idea of higher idle temps. Running on a 5850 @ 900/1200 here.

Installed over the top of previous driver and everything is tickety-boo here, rock solid even. No increase in idle clocks, although only running one display so I wouldn't expect it.
