Additionally, if the 6970 is £400 odd like people are speculating, that leaves a massive "gulf" in the £200-£300 region. Realistically, I can see the RRP of the 6970 and 6950 to be around £240 and £300. That leaves room for around a £400 RRP for the 6990, if it's dual 6950s, as their dual cards are always under 2x the cost of the single GPU versions.
NEw rumours say this
. power consumption lower than gtx 580
. Temperature not so desirable
. beats gtx 580 Slightly
. card longer than 5870
. idle temperature 45c
. 6+6 pin connector???
Mr Krugga said:That is very untrue, HD5870 was launched at $399, Gibbo's quoted pricing suggests $479-529 which is a lot higher than HD5870 launch prices.
Hmmm just had a thought, if Raven is telling the truth? Will the 6950 actually be faster than a 580 like early neliz rumours?
If the above is true I doubt we will see a high end dual GPU card from Nvidia either until 28nm...
Gibbo has already said it's going to be £350 - £400 for the 6970.
This is in line with the 5870 at launch (now £180!).
Can I get source with that?If it's any longer than the 5870 I might have to settle on a 580 (if I can lay my hands on one).
So when AMD have massive availability of their probably faster card and Nvidia can't even make theirs in large numbers, the best strategy is to price them so high the volume is low and it makes a 580gtx look not terrible value?
If AMD were doing business the way you suggest why is the 6870 more expensive than the competing cards from nVidia?
My bad, the price seems very low historically! That is very untrue, HD5870 was launched at $399, Gibbo's quoted pricing suggests $479-529 which is a lot higher than HD5870 launch prices.
Because the competing cards are EOL?
They are still available in volume, still the main competition and only recently went EOL.
Well the 570 won't be £200 we can be sure of that. The 560 might be.
1GB 6950 would fit in nicely around £250 with the the 2GB 6950 at £300.
No but the 6870 is unlikely to provide much competition for the 570.
