ATI cuts 6950 allocation

I wouldn't trust any kinds of graphs or benchmarks until the card is actually out.
Even if it's complete BS, convincing people that your card performs better will win over the first-day buyers and that's quite a bit of chane with the gouging prices they have on release.

So yes, don't believe anything, question everything :)
Until its out that is, then we'll just know flat out.

Not like there's only a set number anyway, even if the cards come out you don't have to upgrade for months- especially if you like the idea of the Sandybridge/Bulldozers.

Raven, i've come to think you are the best part of this fourm not for the real, level headed info you supply but the true drama one person can bring, it's almost a kin to a modren spy story. The twist & turns, the double agent sort of feel you give off. one mintue Nvidia are the best "got to love that 480" then the next AMD are going to kick ass (30% more ass) with the 6970, but you got to mind those flicker textures you know you dont like them.

I'm off work this week after an op to remove a wisdom tooth and raven you really have put a smile on my face, keep up the good work

Ha! Gotta love FUD...

AMD's own benchmarketing data claims that Cayman XT is slightly below 20 percent faster than a GTX 480 in 3Dmark Vantage. When we compare our own GTX 480 results and add 20 percent on top of that it turns that Cayman XT loses to both GTX 570 and especially GTX 580.

Apart from the fact that the source slide is clearly edited by a third party, what are they smoking to believe that a GTX570 is more than 20% faster than a GTX480

This is interesting.

Even the Release Date is interesting, should we trust the FUD with the 15th?

I think it’s going to be this Friday – 10th of December – when they get released, more so when there are some rumours that the retailers have already got them or are starting to get them :)

Fudzilla's audience is like a cat with a beam of light.
The fact it may or may not be real is irrelevant, its just the fact that there is movement which makes it interesting.

Isn't it a bit stupid releasing something on a Friday due to delivery? Would be better Monday/mid week launch.

Monday which would be the 13th the first date after the push back would be more wise, more people could have them by tuesday and some real users could give feedback. Helping to get others on board

No idea mate, just an idea. If OCUK has already got these (since yesterday I believe!) why wait a week to release the product? You could do it Friday, Monday, but why wait a full week?

I imagine other retailers will be the same.

Remember that the 570 GTX stock started to come in Monday and even Tuesday during the day.

contraditary to rumor the new package they use for AMD Radeon dont burn up if not sold, as they sit on the shelf, they just sparkle brightly flashing naked xxxxx and smiles widely.

15dec, aint far away.:D

To ensure reasonable supplies of stock reach all potential markets.

This will be a simultaneous global release, as always, so it's expected that some markets will receive stock before others.

True - shame I wanted one before the weekend you see :D

By the way, is it worth buying a 480 GTX (brand new and sealed) for £200 inc? Don't ask for offers, a mate bought 2 a while ago for SLI and never got round to put the second one in. He is offering it to me before he puts it on the bay.

Or should I wait?

I game at 2560x1440 :)

£200 is a cracking price for a GTX480... The 570 is going for close to £300, and offers very similar performance to a 480 (albeit at a lower power draw). A single GTX480 would be a good partner for a 2560*1440 resolution as well.

How loud are they? You got some, haven't you? :)

I will be using the stock fan I believe.

Yeah, I have a couple. I don't find them to be too bad, but noise is always subjective, so maybe you will have a different opinion.

Make no mistake, when the fan is running at 90% it is LOUD, but this only ever really happens in furmark. Most of the time in games the fans are at around 60%, and at this speed I can't hear them over my CPU and case fans. As always, it depends a lot on how good your case ventilation is though.

Sounds like a go to me. I am selling my 460GTX for around £120 so will only have to chip in £80 :)

Sounds like a plan. On the bright side, if it IS too loud / hot / ugly for your tastes (:p) then you'll be able to sell it off on the bay (or MM) without losing anything. You'd probably make a few quid profit even after postage costs...

Don't care about ugly or hot. Just care about the noise. My Gigabyte is almost silent you see? :)

^^^
I think I'l be going back over to a 5870 or equivalent, as the noise of the 470 is just too much when it's clocked, other than that though it's been great.
